He is in the chorus, so nothing up-front, but one of the vital support cast in the background who makes it all look and sound amazing.

As my favorite director always says "there are no small parts, only small actors"

Well. . . ....I am still on a high. We went to the opening night of The Drowsy Chaperone at Jack's school, and it was incredible. I sound very like a biased mom, but everyone in the audience was truly blown away. I only wish Soooozle could have been there.... . ....

Jack was fantastic. He is in the chorus, so nothing up-front, but one of the vital support cast in the background who makes it all look and sound amazing. He plays the part, in this scene, of one of the cameramen who dances around, lifts up the leading lady, and generally keeps smiling', movin' his feet and singin'.. .. . ..

Looks great!

Gads, have I got a lot to do. .. . . .. :wacko::wacko::wacko:

Having a 50th birthday party here this Saturday night for DH. He is MUCH, MUCH older than I. <_< There will be about twenty people, just family and a few close friends. (Um, guess who is flying in tomorrow, 5:42 pm?). . . . ...

.. . ..MIL . .. . .... :noadequateemoticonavailable:

Saturday night is coincidentally the final night of Jack's musical production, which actually works out well because almost everyone who is coming to the party will be heading to the musical afterwards. It'll be one big convoy.. . .. ..

SOosoosooOoO, I have to clean the entire house and the yard in case we are out on the deck, hit groceries and the liquor store... . . ....and the big thing: I decided four days ago to do a painting for DH. I am about half-finished.....it must be dry, matted and framed by Friday night.

So WHAT IN HELL am I doing on here??. . .

Well, forget all that unimportant stuph! Whutz the painting? Let some particulars already. A grand landscape of the deck and yard? A dashing portrait of the thespian in costume? Maybe of portrait of the prime minister or the Qween?

There would be no reaction. They are accustomed to being completely embarrassed by me. I would expect them to roll their eyes and walk away, saying, "please just don't hang that near MY room!"

Nothing so patriotic nor personal.. . . .. ..I actually thought about taking a pic of it before it was framed and then posting it, but completely forgot, and I had a helluva time getting it into this honkin' frame.....so perhaps I'll take a shot of it as is. There will be major reflective shine-back.. . . . ...

It is a very tight, close view of a pair of legs and feet in old oxfords, white socks and brown trousers. Behind the two legs are two legs of a stool -- it is a seated man - - and between the two (human) legs sits a trumpet, resting on the floor.....suggestive of a New Orleans jazz player taking a break.

'Tis interesting.. .. . . ...strange.. . . ..odd, vaguely surprising coloUrs... .... . . . .I think DH will stare at it like this.. . . ...

Major reflections eh? I get that problem too. I often take my paintings outside on the deck and face them away from the sun to take pics. Wurks best when it's snot raining. :( My deck is only in the direct sun early in the day, and afternoon has more indirect light. So I can take pitchurs in the afternoon purty gud. Yeah, I can. I can so. So thar!

Em! I absolutely LOVE your painting! And I can't see anything wrong with the shoe. But I know how you feel. I am highly critical of my calligraphy and always see something that I am not happy with. I have been told that it's not supposed to be perfect, but it's hard to let it be.

My dad is a painter and he once did an abstract containing various musical instruments. The flautist was holding the flute wrong  Now THAT'S unforgiveable, seeing as how that is my instrument of choice. <_<

Hello my dear psilles,

Just wanted to let you know I'm keeping up with reading the posts. I have the flu again. At least i finally know why I keep getting sick. It's due to the CLL. My doctor was upset that I didn't go in to see her sooner but I don't want antibiotics or prednisone if my body can still fight off the infection. Evidently that's not the case and I have to go in at the first sign of illness. Now the medical bills are rolling in for all of the tests that weren't covered. Luckily Clark still has pretty good medical insurance. He's extremely stressed about getting a job and the layoff is coming soon. Worse case we'll put our house on the market and move to something smaller. There are a few possibilities and they might actually bring me closer to NJ. We don't need a big house. I just hope we can keep Tony at Brown.

Enough about me. Jess, how's school going? Is everyone else doing all right between flooding and natural disasterss? I miss being online daily and miss all of you even more. I just don't have much energy. But reading your banter keeps me laughing. BTW, who's currently running the monarchy and are you attending the royal wedding?

Had a really weird comment on my profile page and was getting ready to send a copy of it to PeOter but when I went to copy it today it was already removed (thank you to whomever didi it). It referred to wanting a "personal relationship" with me, left an email address and when I looked at the profile it was male (although the name was female). Thanks to the moderators for doing such a great job - have to admit it creeped me out.

OK, back to rest. Watched the mini series Mildred Pierce yesterday (all 5 hours) and it was awesome. Today I'm going to watch the original.

Lots of wub.gifwub.gifwub.gif and hugs,

Loey

I'm really impressed!!!!! I'm phailing in my art class. Everyone else is so professional and my work looks like a 5 year old could do it. Will continue because it's relaxing and hopefully I'll improve over time.

Hi, Loweee! :) Great to read you again.......was wondering how everything is with you....take care o' that phloo!

But reading your banter keeps me laughing. BTW, who's currently running the monarchy and are you attending the royal wedding?

I just cannot understand it.....here I am, Psillyville Kween, and there has been NO official invitation, as yet, to the royal wedding for me in the mail. Gads, they certainly take it right down to the wire! It is in two weeks, and I have to book a flight, get hotel reservations, arrange for someone to take over royal protocol in my absence.. ....rather inconsiderate of them, I must say.. .. . .....Can they not appreciate that I need time to make arrangemnts before I go overseas??

Had a really weird comment on my profile page and was getting ready to send a copy of it to PeOter but when I went to copy it today it was already removed (thank you to whomever didi it).

He/she targeted me, as well. Thanks, mods!

Hi @cristiana   Thank you so much for your reply. This is so helpful. I definitely suffer from anxiety mostly related to health. Brain fog definelty doesn’t help this when it comes. I find my 4 am wake ups are potentially more food related if that’s a possibility (eating enough carbs with protein and fats) and if I eat a small snack before bed to hold throughout the night. I just haven’t been able to help the sudden increase in more days where I can’t fall asleep for hours - it’s those racing thoughts like you describe. I feel like a machine that’s running and can’t shut down.    I will try the epsom salt bath that’s a great suggestion. I think I’m probably working through some other food triggers that may be contributing as well with brain fog.    Anyways sorry to go off. It feels so reassuring finding this community and being able to chat with others. I was definitely feeling a bit crazy until I realized there are many others going through the same thing.

Hi Jayne Great choice for a gluten-free cycling holiday, I know the island well. The words you need to look for are 'sin gluten' when you are out and about.   I think you will be amazed at how many packets and canned goods are clearly labelled 'sin gluten' in the supermarkets - many more than one sees here - often in quite large type.  There seems to be a thought in the UK that if you label something gluten free it will affect flavour etc and will put people off buying it!  However, in the case of Spain, it is almost as if the the Spanish see it as an endorsement of quality and flavour!  There is a supermarket called Mercadona and they label their produce very clearly. Paella should be gluten free so long as the chef use the right stock such as Knorr or a gluten-free homemade stock - you can check.  Most Mallorquins in catering speak English but if not, ask, "Contiene gluten?"  Tumbet is a wonderful dish if you like peppers, tomato, aubergines, garlic and olive oil!  A sort of variation on ratatouille.   Slow roast lamb shank should be safe, and there are endless fish dishes to choose from and salads.  Flan is made with eggs, sugar and caramel, and should be gluten-free.  Lots of gluten-free ice cream and sorbets, they should be clearly labelled. If you want specific restaurant recommendations, feel free to PM me. Cristiana

One thing to keep in mind is that it's pretty safe to take a B-complex since B vitamins are water soluble. You just pee out any excess.

Hi @hjayne19 It sounds as if your insomnia is closely linked to your anxiety.  I had awful anxiety at diagnosis, and that feeling of doom that you describe.   My other symptoms were racing thoughts, and a tangible sensation of a weight bearing down on my shoulders, even if I was feeling perfectly well and happy - it would just hit me.  I then got a phobia to make things worse, linked to the fact that I had was suffering hypnopompic hallucinations (brief hallucinations on waking).  That was weird but I later learned they aren't all that uncommon, especially with people who suffer from aura migraines.   In fact I felt so unwell that I didn't even recognise it as 'anxiety'.  I remember googling my various symptoms and it was only that that  made me realise I was suffering from anxiety, which was nothing like 'feeling a bit nervous before taking an exam' or , say, making a speech.  This was a whole new ball game. As I came off gluten and healed, the anxiety started to get less and less.  It is not uncommon for coeliacs to have anxiety on diagnosis, so I hope that is reassuring to you.   And deficiencies can make it worse, or cause it, so are definitely worth investigating in further depth if you can.   There is certainly a big difference between 'normal' levels and 'optimum', as @trents says, and this excerpt from a British website and explains how with B12,, for example,  a normal level in one person can represent a deficiency in another: In the UK, normal B12 levels vary slightly by lab but generally, above 200 ng/L is considered sufficient, 100-145 ng/L indicates possible deficiency, and below 100 ng/L suggests likely deficiency, though levels between 146-200 ng/L may still warrant treatment if symptoms are present, as per North Bristol NHS Trust and NICE guidelines In fact, I understand levels are set much higher in other countries, such as Japan.  When I started to supplement B12 with high dose sublinguals I began to feel better, even though at diagnosis my levels were considered 'low normal'.    I too had a lot of muscle twitching which was likely due to deficiencies, but of course if someone has a lot of adrenaline in their system it will only make twitching worse.  I remember reading on this forum one should take magnesium tablets, and it did really help.  As a sportsperson you might like to try throwing a good handful of Epsom salts into a lukewarm bath, and have a soak for 20 mins, as it can be absorbed through the skin.  But be careful as you leave the bath, it can make you woozy! Lastly, to address the anxiety,  I found Dr Steve Llardi's book, albeit on Depression, incredibly helpful.  The Depression Cure: The Six Step Programme to Beat Depression Without Drugs.    Dr Llardi outlines a step-by-step plan for recovery from depression, which focuses on six key lifestyle elements that have largely disappeared in healthy doses from modern life:  physical exercise,  omega-3 fatty acids,  natural sunlight exposure,  restorative sleep,  social connectedness, and meaningful, engaging activity.    The other book (and there is a website) which helped me understand anxiety and recover is Paul David's, At Last a Life, written by a one-time sufferer.  I live in the UK and if I could award a knighthood to anyone in this country, it would be to Paul.  I am so grateful that these books crossed my path.   Anyway, sorry for the length of this post.  I hope something might be of help. Cristiana

Hi @trents thanks so much for the insights this helps alot.    These were my metrics at celiac diagnosis. In which my diet has since changed over the past 3 months Magnesium: 0.80 mmol/L Vitamin B12: 1021 Vitamin D (25-OH): 102.8 I would say I do get tired after eating more carbs and the only thing that really helps me fall asleep with insomnia is if I eat a banana or a snack. I have a follow up appointment soon so will look into those other B vitamin levels.
