Yes, a superb pic of past and present c.commers! Ptaoughmmuss's feet do, indeed, look rather gun-boatish... . . . . 'Tis a good thing, for he is, as I recall, very tall as well -- like, six-five er somethin'.. . . . ..?.....At this height one must need a lengthy stabilizing base....

When I win the lottery I'm going to visit all me psillies! ;)

OR we need to all meet for a weekend somewhere that's an approximate geographic midpoint. Hmm....London, NZ, throughout the States, Eastern Canada . ......POeter, where would that be?

Don't pick Kansas! I know it's in the middle of the US but I want to go somewhere fun! Bev just got back from Belize & it looked great! Let's go there!

My oldest had those shoes on Ptaum's feet. They made his size 12s look larger. They were huge shoes.

Nooo!! Progressive!!!! We go to everyone's house, picking up each person on the way, circling all the way back around dropping off each person. so Russel and I go to Cali, pick up Judy and Tom and Suze, we go to Kansas, pick up the midwesterners, we all go to Canada, pick up Em and Peter, head down the coast, etc ending up in NZ. Then y'all come back to WA, drop off the northwesterners.... and so on and so forth.

Could we get a tricked out bus, like a rock star? With all our various diet issues, it would be good to have the ability to cook. Perhaps, Nik can come over to No. America this year for a tour. Next year we can tour over there?

Remember the thread about completely gluten-free restauraunts? We should hit all of them!

There actually is stable ground in Christchurch?

Well, not eggsactly stable stable.. Doesn't mean that it doesn't occasionally move around a bit. Just means that there are no gaping wide cracks in it, and no liquefaction mud volcanoes and such :P and no newly formed ponds or hills.

Yessirreebob, we are all just finding out the insurance ramifications of mother nature's hissy fits. We don't have to use our imaginations any more  Our EQC (govt. earthquake insurance) premiums have just doubled throughout the country (first hundred thou of damage) and all other premiums are going up gastronomically :P (as in stomach churning) as they become due. The shoe will fall on us in May. Insurance is THE MAJOR impediment to everything right now - the rebuild effort, construction permits, government buyouts on homes in disestablished 'burbs, etc. No one will move until they can get insurance and the insurance companies themselves are struggling to get reinsurance so they can offer insurance  and are delaying payments as long as humanly or inhumanely possible :(

And yet we just flew in over the city a couple of days ago and the city looked luverly :) It was one year ago on the 22nd that everything fell apart :o

Just a quick pop-in for KarenG. Hi Crayon, this electronics site has lots of neato stuff the robotics club might like. They are having a sale on some items per their recent newsletter. I don't remember if I told you about this site b4 or not. Meh, probably, but who knows?

Thanks GeeEFF! I think we are good for this year, but I will pass this to the Robotics coach who also teaches digital electronics. Might be a good time to stock up on all those odd little connectors.

It was a nice visit with Mouse, Chris and Tom. He does have big feet, but never noticed the thumbs. It was great fun to meet up. We should do more of that. ;)

It really was great Lisa. How's your brother been btw?

Hehe "never noticed the thumbs"?!! That pic was taken just moments after your intently quantifying gaze left my hand, having been placed on your shoulder just a second before!

Pfffft never noticed.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: Well, I think our meeting pre-dated a lot of things, one included the GREAT THUMB DEBATE. But....perhaps it did not preclude my glimpse at your "large" hands tightly wrapped around... that coffee cup. :P:D

Brother is still in Shanghai, soon to return stateside. How's life in CA?

Ouch . ...Kairreign trying to allhatnocattle me eh? [forehead smacking not producing right phrase]

They are distinctive but it would've'adto've been 5 yrs ago. Avia stopped making bball shoes in '07. It was sad. I liked them enough I tallied up 9 Big5Sports stores in 3 states to stock up. Still have new all-blacks & all-whites.

Hey shroomie maybe we've both been at the one in Sparks ....on 2nd thought u may never have a reason to go to Sparks anyway - if you're heading to the city what's Sparks got that Reno doesn't? (besides best discount brandname sports shoes store of course ;) )

Notsomuch. ... . ...I was more inspired by the countless '55 Chevys.. . . B) ....man, they were everywhere..... . .. pristine, whizzing by, sounding their great horns....like stepping back in time. In all the music surrounding us, as well -- from Nat King Cole to John Lennon...... .and everything encompassed in a curling haze of maraca beat and fine cigar smoke... . . ..yup, it all begs to be recorded. Hemingway knew this, and I do hope to return there someday to get things down on canvas as he did on notepaper, napkins, envelopes, chequebooks.. . .. . ..:)

Hello Dearest psillies,

Boy have I ever missed you! It's nice to be coming back from the almost dead (don't mean to sound over dramatic). As I mentioned I lost almost two weeks of my life. Superman was amazing. Right now he's "the boss of me" and I'm gladly letting him. I still have memory loss, tremors, and depression (though I feel blessed to have super Rob and all my friends - psillies and those fro home). I have a new therapist who also is licensed to adjust and give out prescriptions. She also works with my neurologist. My new goal is to get well enough to make a trip to NJ in July.

My brother flew up to see me Thursday through Saturday and it meant a lot. On Friday night we took Tony and 4 of his friends to celebrate Tony's 20th BD. We we to Fire and Ice (a great restaurant for us gluten-free'ers). The kids think we're the cool parents so they let rip. At the restaurant one of the kids suggested two games - one was most memorable thing about Tony. Rob's was watching him come out of me. My brother's was watching Tony pee in Rob's face. Mine was him vomiting green eggs & ham on Dr. Seuss day. I'm forgetting what most of the kids said. I think a few were about his my little pony collection. He was very scruffy with a long beard and hair (just the type I was attracted to in college). He has to shave it all off and get a good haircut before he can start working for the public defender. He already started working at Providence Hospital. I'm very proud of him.

Time to hit the sack. Again, I've missed you more than I can say.

Love & Hugswub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

All right, I want to know which one of you northern psilly peeps stole our southern summer  Here we are, into our second day of autumn already and I have barely got out of my sweats for more than a couple of days. And the good folks of Oz are sending us a "storm bomb" for tomorrow with winds and rain, which is all I got on my mini-vacation to Wellington last week too. I know it wasn't you pholks who had all the psnaough, or even the tornadoes, but SOMEBODY DONE IT!!! You had best turn on a northern summer for me.

Us folks with the tornados have been having a lovely, warm winter.....hence the tornados. It was 70 F today here in KC. Perhaps you should have wintered in Kansas?

Okay, so now we know the culprit. You maybe deserved the tornados??? :o

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
    • trents
@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
