So the fair I was at this weekend had a forge right across the way from the

booth I was working in, and every morning and evening they would set off

their cannon (unloaded). It is INCREDIBLY loud. So last night at around 1am,

I dreamed it was about to go off, and woke up, sat bolt upright in bed with my

fingers in my ears. Yeah. I have GREAT dreams.

Well, at least it was only twice a day  I had a booth at a Christmas Faire one year where the neighboring booth played a very tinny recording of "Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock" over and over, ALL DAY, for two days!!! I thought I would go mad and that damned thing rang through my head right up to Christmas. Made me feel very un-Christmassy!!

People in New England are insane. It's official. How many people are

going to buy bread, milk, and eggs? What are you going to do when

the power goes out? Make French toast? Numbskulls.....

Only thing I don't like about the new format is it's too big from left to right,

you have to scroll back and forth to read. I think it would be better if the

default made the post boxes narrower. Everything else I'll get used to.

All I want to do is let everyone I'm hoping they're safe & dry and I miss the old "reply" button so ... stay safe & dry. Will try to figure this out again tomorrw when DH isn't waiting to watch a movie with me (The Stand - Part 3)

With out knowing anything about the id... ummm, *flips coin*, looks like it will be fine! :D

shadowicewolf Proficient

lol yeah, it lived.

I'm going to get it checked out this week though. it lost its signed thingy on the back. Still works as a card key though.

The "Reply" button at the bottom of each post is now labeled "Quote." It will prime the reply window.

The multiquote function has changed a bit. When at least one post is tagged as "MultiQuote" there will be a button in the lower right area of the screen to "Reply to x quoted post(s)." Click it to launch the reply window. Click "Clear" to the right to reset. Like before, you can MultiQuote tag a post in one topic, and post the reply in another.

Did you check your notifications options in your settings? . . . It may have been wiped out/reset during the upgrade.

The upgrade reset many notification settings. Look up in the right hand corner--you may have to reactivate the "follow" function. I did on the thread I follow. Then, go to your settings, check notification settings, and you may need to check email to reactivate it.

It would be a good idea for everyone to review your notification settings to make sure that they are still what you want them to be.

Yep, checked them. They were all good. I also completely unfollowed and refollowed. Still no emails.

Yes I get emails about PM's so I know it is not my email address, and I did set to instant notifications.

Hmmmm . . . running out of ideas here. I gave it a try and it worked for me. Have you tried following any of the other threads? The Frankenstorm one gets a lot of action so you should be able to tell fairly quickly. Did you check your spam folder? I don't see how, but a computer might interpret this vital thread as . . . <gasp> . . . spam.

Why do you need notification anyway?? . . . Aren't you on 24/7 like the rest of us? . . . as your queen, I demand that kind of committment, you know.

It is currently not raining, but we have a wind warning for sustained winds of 60 km/h (40 mph) with gusts up to 100 km/h (60 mph). Rain forecast to start this afternoon and continue through Friday. :(

Hiya Peepsters--I think we're as set as we'll ever be if/when the electricity goes out. Stocked up on water, other non-perishables, and the all important Popcorn Indiania Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn and Gluten Free Bakehouse stuff. B)

You wouldn't believe the people in the grocery store buying gallons of milk and eggs. Unless they have a generator (impossible to find, natch), how in the Sam Hill are they gonna keep that stuff? It was so phunny though--my shopping cart, normally full of produce, organic dairy, meats, etc was instead loaded with packaged, canned, bottled and snacky things.

HAPPY BELATED BIRFDAY, EM!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hope it was phab!

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

Thank you for the information ill will definitely bring it into practice .

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Welcome to the community! Generally, for a gluten challenge before celiac disease blood tests, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe and should not interfere with your antibody results. The medications you typically need to avoid are those like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) that can cause intestinal irritation, which could potentially complicate the interpretation of an endoscopy if you were to have one. However, it is absolutely crucial that you confirm this with either your gastroenterologist or your surgeon before your procedure. They know the specifics of your case and can give you the definitive green light, ensuring your surgery is comfortable and your celiac testing remains accurate. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow
