Which strong, strapping Psillies will be in Ottawa Labour Day weekend? Manna, please extend a weekend invitation to your ILs. If they can lift junk into a truck, they'll be all set to lug furniture up a couple o' flights of stairs.

Sure, as long as she doesn't mind having her new dorm room filled with random stuff from their garage...I'm sure they can help!

So...I never did an invetory of what they brought us:

Two non-working weedwackers. Yes, we did need one of these but we asked them to check if they worked before bringing them to us. we had to go buy a new one the weekend after they left.

A leaf blower--works but we have no trees and therefore no leaves to blow around.

A chainsaw--works, but again no trees.

A used fireplace mantal--we have no fireplace. I think I might have mentioned the house USED to have a fireplace but was remodeled to remove it and MIL seemed to think we should put a FAKE fireplace where the old one used to be. She has some strange ideas for decorating.

A table saw--This came in handy for cutting up the fireplace mantal and few other thigns to fit it the trash can. But it takes up a third of our outdoor storage shed.

Plastic lawn chairs that are so dirty and sun-faded I'm almost embarrassed to have them in the yard but there's no place else put them.

Two old dirty coolers--maybe good for fishing but not somethign we want to store or really even use. <_<

A platic clothes hamper that had been kept in their garage--no idea what they thought we would do with it?

Lots and lots of old rustly tools. Some useful, some really needed to just be tossed.

We took two pick-up truck full loads to the dumpster at our old place before our lease was up there but we still have a surplass of trash from moving. In the house we found several boxes of random stuff they had brought us that we had to go through and throw out. There's a lean-to in the backyard that was probably made for firewood when the house had a fireplace. Right now it has random stuff we need to put in our trash can that wouldn't fit in the small storage shed. We're getting rid of items about one per week so we don't have to pay extra to have them removed. These are things we can't even get rid of for free on craigslist. We are trying to sell the chainsaw and leaf blower. At least we might make some money, right? :D

GFM - google Freecycle. List items and leave them out for the ones that want them. People will take anything that is free.

The plastic clothes hamper is to keep your kindling in, of course! You will cut the dead tree branches on you property down with the chain saw. The small branches become kindling for starting the fire in your new fireplace that they brought you a mantle for. You will use the leaf blower to blow dead leaves from this project out into the street. The table saw can be used to make interesting and unique furniture out of the rest of the assorted stuff.

There! Makes perfect sense!

Or maybe the hamper, plastic chairs & coolers were meant for Sophie or J' s dorm rooms.

Yup.....turn the hamper upside down -- a retro-funky li'l chair/stool! Coolers can be, again, funky, Age-of-Plastic coffee or bedside tables that can store crap... . . .plastic chairs can be arranged around these instant "tables"... . . ...what a lovely picture I am conjuring up....

Sophie's room measures 8.5' x 11'.... . . ...if the chairs fold, should be no prob... . . ..

They will make a nice statement in the dorm with the cooler coffee table and the broken weedeater artwork. She'll be the envy of all her friends.

I'm a member of Freecycle in my area. I seriously wouldn't GIVE most of this stuff away. We did try putting things out by the trash can on trash day and posted a "curb alert" on craigslist. The only things taken were the weedeaters. Probably for scrap metal or by someone that's goign to try to fix them (FIL swears they are easy to fix but we just didn't want to mess with it--one of them shorted out the breaker to the outside plug when we plugged it in). Anyway the trash trucks here don't pick up anything outside the trash can unless you contact the city to pay for a bulk pick up and our HOA doesn't allow us to put anything at the curb except on trash pick up day. So we ended up having to drag everythign back and stash it under the lean-to. We'll now get rid of everything eventually.

Gnick.. . . . ......we need to hear from you.. . . . .... ..... . .... . . .. . ...some pretty frightening stuff going on in and around London.......outlying areas are now rife with rioting.... :(....

Dear gawd, this is an early start... . . .your kids are in school all of August? Wow......are the schools air-conditioned?

They must start their summer holidays in early June, then?

EXCITING! Sophie is packing for university. She is going to Ottawa U, but staying in residence. So, she will be a twenty-minute bus-ride away....perfect for Sunday dinners and weekly laundry jaunts <_<. Her dorm room is on the fifteenth floor of one of the res buildings.....the elevator only stops at even floors ( ), and we have a sizeable bar fridge, wardrobe and dresser to get up those two flights of stairs. Yes we have air-conditioning.....or should I say refrigeration? Can't believe they waste money like that <_<

....and yes we started summer break in early June.....I believe the 6th. Would've been sooner if not for snow days.

......and ummmm.......not strong.....not strapping.....and not in Ottowa Labor Day weekend

......sorry ;)

....but YAY! for Sophie!.....exciting times!!!! :D

Big time rioting and flaming pyrotechnics, unfortunately :(

On happier notes, Sophie and J both heading out on the big college adventure. Yep, they have growed up :D Hope the nests don't get to feeling too empty - well, em"s won't because Sophie will bring her washing home on weekends :P

We've had friends visiting from Spokane since Friday. Had a great time with them. We went to a big fundraiser on Saturday night in which I was drinking straight Grey Goose by the end of the night  But, we got to party with Tommy Thayer from KISS and his barely legal wife. He was really nice and he ended up playing guitar with the band for half the night. It was awesome!!

Going to the Ozarks for a few days. I think my experience will be a lot less Hillbilly than Rachelle's vacation.

Well, what fun is that?? No stories to come home with :lol::lol:

This place we are staying in the Ozarks is 1217 times better than the place Rachelle went. Also, we didn't bring any extra relatives or drunken ex- strippers with us.

Shoulda told me.... Ida lent you mine! :P

You guys aren't going to believe this . . . we maintain a freakishly odd school schedule here . . . the kids go back to school tomorrow.

Can I move in with you??? My kids have been counting down for the last month! I have odd kids. They desparately WANT to go back to school  Maddie is up at a friend's cabin for the week, then in 2 weeks she'll go stay with my inlaws for a week. That should be interesting. Hope she doesn't come back too brainwashed

Big time rioting and flaming pyrotechnics, unfortunately :(

Beeeeeeee Safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although,

That reminds me of my sophmore year in college.... :P

Present & unscathed thank you!!!

Weird and somewhat scary times this week...riots started in North London over a man shot dead by police but the other flare ups (IMO) were not riots - more looting & an excuse to smash things up.

Pack mentality at it's worst dry.gif

Things alot calmer now - MAHOOSIVE police presence everywhere, which is comforting.

..of course, every conversation I hear has turned folk into a politician.

I blame the parents

They should be evicted from their homes

They should be shot unsure.gif

Ho hum.

So wos yooz peeps up to this weekend??

Em, when's Sophie moving in to her new digs??...exciting times!! biggrin.gif

Hi, Gnick! Well, with all the bloody running you're getting up to, I was never all that worried about you being caught up in those looting, crazed mobs.......you'd just run like hell!

Close enough for the odd Sunday dinner and regular laundry shlepping.

This is good. :)

We leave Wed for the 680 mile trip. They just upped the speed limit most of the way to 75. I think I will need some Valium. Driving that fast! We will fill his little Toyota with his bike and whatever clothes he can squish around it. Then a major buying trip to Walmart to get all the stuff most people buy ahead.

We will miss him, but I think he will do well there. I think it just hit him today that he will be gone soon.

Em & I still have 1 left at home. Poor thing. He is becoming my only " beast of burden". Will have to do all Mom's heavy lifting and repairs.

Was at the local Walmart & wanted to take a pic of this woman's cart contents. A full cart neatly stacked with boxes of processed, over salted frozen foods and cookies. Then a younger version pulled up with another full cart exactly the same. Not a fresh or frozen or canned fruit or veg in the lot. Unless onions on the frozen pizza count?

I have some extra pics of J in cap & gown. Might make a nice surprise for this buying frames.

Psills, you are absolutely not going to believe this. Number one, I left home for a few days without 'puter :o Two, logged on to hotel's shared 'puter to check this thread (well, others too  ) and was denied access to this thread only - we wuz censored out

I'm somewhat surprised, as I haven't said (typed, rather) the word "penis" or "anal" around here in quite some time... . . ....perhaps it is the relatively recent photos put up here of the POWS and their revealing attire that got us flagged..... . . ....

Probably the 4 letter word "chat".

I have been known to purchase a non- food food product or 2. But 2 carts stacked above the cart? Forgot to mention the copious amounts of meat-like products - sausages, bacon, and more sausage. Then sausage with biscuits and cheese, etc.

And paid for with food stamps.

if you have already learned that Gluten is the cause of your symptoms, of course there is no need to add it back into your diet— your decision could save you a lot of needless suffering. One thing to consider is that if you do have celiac disease, your first- degree relatives may also need to get screened for it, because, like diabetes the disease is genetic, although many of its triggers seem to be environmental factors. You may want to consider getting a genetic test for celiac disease, so you can at least warn your relatives if it turns out that you do carry a celiac gene.
    • lookingforanswersone
Thanks everyone. I've decided to do a gluten challenge (4 slices of bread a day for 3 months) and then do a full gluten panel of all the tests that can be done, just to rule it in or out for sure. I think otherwise psychologically it will keep bothering me
    • Suze046
Thanks Scott. Those articles are really interesting. I’m cutting out gluten for 6 weeks but honestly I’m not sure I even want to reintroduce it! I ate at a restaurant for the first time on Wednesday and then Thursday was really uncomfortable and had a few trips to the loo.. wonder if there was some cross contamination 🤷‍♀️ if that’s how my body reacts after not eating it for 3 weeks I’m not sure it’s worth reintroducing it and re testing for celiac! It might have been a coincidence I realise that I’m not going to feel better all of a sudden and my gut is probably still trying to heal. Thanks for your supportive message!
    • RMJ
Reference range 0.00 to 10.00 means that within that range is normal, so not celiac. There are other antibodies that can be present in celiac disease and they don’t all have to be positive to have celiac.  I’m sure someone else will post a link to an article describing them! Plus, if you are IgA deficient the celiac IgA tests won’t be accurate.
    • cristiana
Great to have another UK person on the forum!   Re: blood tests, it sounds as if you are being well monitored but if you have any further concerns about blood tests or anything else, do not hesitate to start a new thread. Cristiana
