Did anyone watch The View today? They had a woman on that mentioned gluten free viatmins. Maybe they will start talking about it. I know Elisabeth has mentioned gluten free before, anyway here's to hoping :D:D:D

I thought that I just read that they are intercepting the drugs from Canada and are not delivering them. It figures. And I think it is starting in Jan. the people in AZ that go to Mexico for their drugs will have to have a passport.

:lol::lol: CISSIE!!!! SO GLAD YOU ARE BACK!! Did you make any Long Island Iced Tea, girlfriend?!!!

Armetta, you are right, they ARE confiscating the meds at the Canadian border. My dh tried to get one of his horrendously expensive meds that insurance wasn't covering and they notified him they had it at customs. He just said forget it and is dishing out the bucks here. What a situation this whole country is in medical wise.

DingoGirl Enthusiast

I was at the health food store and they had some childrens vitamins so I bought them because it read... no guten added... well I took one and it hurt my tummy.... I have no idea why... I'm still trying to find a good supplement that I can tolerate.

Celia, hi my dear friend.

was at chiro fri and still realing from her new take on me.

watched the view and amazed that all the supplements she was talking about eg. ear ache drops for kids etc my chiro has on her shelf. she only supplys her pt with these options as she's so picky about ingred and knows what's best for each of us...and she furious with the cost rip off in health food stores sooooo it's alot of work for her but sells to us at her cost and she of couse picks up the shipping cost.

i'll put a list here of the supplements i get from her if you want. and the company who makes them

let me know.

won't post if ppl aren't interested. i'll get the bottles and line them up.

Jessica......I believe I have more dating experience than anyone you or I know. :o in fact friends have actually urged me to write a book...oh dear gawd the stories I could tell.....but I've only gotten so far as the title: "A**holes I Have Known, And How To Avoid Them" ;) Sadly I didn't gain my wisdom until later in life....but I can help you with what's acceptable and unacceptable in a dating situation, I do this frequently for friends as I *try* to help them avoide the mistakes I made. Ahhhhhhhh....hindsight.

You can PM me, too. :)

LOL So true, Susan I'm sure knows much more about dating than I!!! But, I gave her the advice I had, however old-fashioned it was!! All I ever wanted was to be married ... I was no good at the dating stuff ...

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Sadly, all I ever wanted was to be married, too. :( So....Carla can tell Jessica how to have a GOOD relationship, I can tell Jessica....what to avoid and how to take care of yourself....I just learned it way too late, I'm afraid......

OH Carla....that's not quite true. Need to get mysefl a little more together for that....the terrible irony is, when I finally gained my hard-earned wisdom to know the difference....my life and world turned so small.....um, who would date a woman who is sick half the time, or so tired she can hardly function at times, and pretty much unemployed?????? I don't even consider it at this time. The last two weekends, three different guys asked for my phone number....and there was no way. If they scrutinized my life..... :(

(dang, read fast, I will probably erase this)

(dang, read fast, I will probably erase this)

I read fast. You're being too hard on yourself. Why prejudge someone before getting to know them. They may surprise you. It's up to you whether you want to take the chance or not.

Remember the man on the roof waiting for God to save him and he refused everything sent his way?

CarlaB Enthusiast

I guess I took my nice pills this morning because I didn't quote you in case you decided to erase. To tell you the truth, what dating always was for me was more of a going out with someone who was a little more than a friend -- someone you may kiss goodnight, but it ends there. As I said, somehow I ended up being rather old-fashioned when it came to dating, which is why I had few men who ever wanted to date me, well, more than a date or two. In the end, my husband realized that he hadn't met any other "nice" girls in college (he's my Mr. Darcy -- he dumped me because, umm, well ...), he decided to date by my rules and we got married as soon as I graduated when I was 21 and he was 22.

If you adopted these "dating rules" for a time at least, you might find it fun to go out and get to know a few men with no strings attached. It would take out the part of dating that is complicated (the chemistry!)... If I all of a sudden found myself single again (God forbid), I would go out, but not date, and I'd make that clear from the start. That way you really learn who the other person is, because, truly, you aren't going to even want to spend time together at all if there's no chemistry ... the chemistry part is what gets us in trouble and hung up on the wrong guy!! I would't really start "dating" (and all I mean by that is that the relationship is exclusive ... still "just a little more than friends" ;)) until I thought I wanted to marry the guy. If he was still around by that time after being just "a little more than friends", that would probably be his interest, too.

I know, I know, I don't live in the real world ... but it's still what I'd do. Guys like a challenge. ;) I think you might enjoy a nice evening out with a man once in a while ... just don't get involved till you're ready. I think you're more together than you give yourself credit for.

AndreaB Contributor

Carla,

I couldn't agree more. I wasn't raised that way but have become that way. Would have saved myself much heartbreak if I had been taught that from the beginning.

Carla: I too live in your world....and it's not a bad place to be.

DingoGirl Enthusiast

oh thanks so much, girls, esp. you Carla for all that good advice.

I am in such a sad and crummy mood today.....am stepping AWAY from the computer because....will only post sad things.

It's a gorgeous day and I'm going to try and enjoy it....as best I can. If you only could understand the place I"m in.....it's hard to put into words but I guess I could just use your prayers.

And I will see you all later. ;)

I had the test done by one of the specialist through second pcp I had only a few months because he was saying I wasn't.Even though Im positive HLA-DQ2 .My celiac is down played.I am with new pcp, seeing another girl doctor who wants to do another breathe test next month though Im positive sibo this year.I have high blood pressure not sure if its pain from sciatica or sibo, ibs or hidden gluten. Im in disability limbo and I should have never been a bus driver because im still suffering and trying to heal with zero income except for my husband. This isnt fare that my health is dictating my living and having ti beg for being revalidation of my disregarded celiac disease. Its an emotional roller coaster I don't want to be on and the medical made it worse.New pcp new gi, exhausted, tired and really fed up. GI doctor NOT girl..

Hi Jmartes, It sure is difficult to get useful advice from medical providers. Almost 20 years  ago a Dr suggested that I might have Celiacs and I took a Celiac Panel blood test. No gluten challenge diet. On that test the tTG was in normal range but an alpha antibody was very high. I went online and read about celiac disease and saw how I could investigate this low tTG and still have celiac disease. Normal tTG can happen when a person had been reacting for many years. Another way is that the person has not been eating enough gluten to raise the antibody level. Another reason is that the tTG does not show up on a blood but may show up on a fecal test. Almost all Celiacs inherit at least one of the 2 main Celiac genes. I had genetic tests for the Celiac genes at Enterolab.com. I inherited one main Celiac gene from one parent and the report said that the DQ gene I inherited from my other parent, DQ6, could cause a person to have more problems or symptoms with that combination. One of my grandmother's had fairly typical symptoms of Celiacs but the other grandmother had severe food intolerances. I seem to show some problems inherited from both grandmothers. Human physiology is very complex and researchers are just beginning to understand how different body systems interact.  If you have taken an autosomal DNA test you can download your raw data file and upload it to Prometheuw.com for a small fee and search for Celiac Disease. If you don't find any Cekiac genes or information about Celiac disease  you may not have autoimmune gluten intolerance because more than 99% of Celiacs have one or both of these genes.  PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW EHAT i HAVE DONE TO HELP WITH SYMPTOMS.

I can't prove it, but I truly believe I have been glutened by airborne particles. I used to take care of shelter cats once per week at a pet store, and no matter how careful I was, I would get glutened each time even if I wore a mask and gloves and washed up well after I was done. I believe the problem was that because I'm short, I couldn't do the the tasks without getting my head and shoulders inside their cages, and so the particles from their food would be all over my hair and top of my shirt. Then I had to drive home, so even if I didn't get glutened right then, the particles would be in my car just waiting for me to get in the car so they could get blown into my face again. I gave up that volunteer gig and stopped getting glutened so often and at such regular intervals.

Hello, @MogwaiStripe, Vitamin D is turned into its activated forms by Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency can affect Vitamin D activation. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14913223/ Thiamine deficiency affects HLA genes.  HLA genes code for autoimmune diseases like Celiac, Thyroiditis, Diabetes, etc.  Thiamine deficiency inside a cell triggers a toggle switch on the gene which in turn activates autoimmune diseases carried on the gene.  The reference to the study is in my blog somewhere.  Click on my name to go to my page, scroll down to the drop down menu "Activities" and click on blogs.

Hello, @annamarie6655, Yes, there's many of us who react to airborne gluten!   Yes, animal feed, whether for chickens or cats or dogs, can release airborne gluten.  I can get glutened from the bakery section at the grocery store.   The nose and mouth drain into the digestive system and can trigger systemic reactions.   I find the histamine release in response to airborne gluten will stuff up my sinuses and bother my eyes.  High histamine levels do cause anxiety and migraines.  The muscle spasms can be caused by high histamine, too.  The digestive system may not manifest symptoms without a higher level of gluten exposure.   Our bodies make an enzyme, DAO (diamine oxidase), to break down histamine.   Pyridoxine B 6, Cobalamine B12, Vitamin C, copper, zinc, and iron are needed to make DAO.  DAO supplements are available over the counter.  Taking a B Complex supplement and additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) helps reduce the amount of histamine being released.  Mast cells without sufficient Thiamine have an itchy trigger finger and release histamine at the slightest provocation.  Thiamine helps mast cells refrain from releasing their histamine.    I find taking additional TTFD thiamine helps immensely with neurological symptoms as TTFD can easily cross the blood brain barrier without a carrier.  High histamine in the brain can cause the muscle spasms, anxiety and migraines.  Vitamin C really helps with clearing histamine, too.   The Digiorno pizza mystery reaction could have been caused by a reaction to the cheese.  Some people develop lactose intolerance.  Others react to Casein, the protein in dairy, the same as if to gluten because Casein resembles the molecular structure of gluten.  An enzyme used in some dairy products, microbial transglutaminase, causes a gluten reaction because it is the same as the tissue transglutaminase our bodies make except microbes make it.  Those tTg IgA blood tests to diagnose celiac disease measure tissue transglutaminase our bodies release as part of the autoimmune response to gluten.   You're doing great!  A Sherlock Holmes award to you for figuring out the connection between airborne gluten and animal feed!!!
