Cookie Cutters

Hi - What's your opinion on using the same cookie cutters we used prior to being gluten free? They're washed well but would you use them now or buy new ones? Thanks!

Okay, this is my opinion:

If your cookie cutters are metal, it would be very hard to get them perfectly clean, as they have that seam, and I wouldn't use them. If they're plastic, I think most of them would be fine, if you scrub them well. If you aren't sure if you have been able to get old dough totally out of tight corners (like very pointed stars for instance), don't use those either.

In the end, it's up to you to make those decisions, because nobody but you can decide which ones will get perfectly clean again.

If you're in doubt, buy new ones to be used exclusively for non-gluten dough.

      Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

      I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

      Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
