Yeah, lots of places. On Coronado Island the restaurant Pehoe's (Hawaiin) is great to work with. I gave them a triumph dining card and they were eager to work with it. (I had macadamia nut, banana chillean sea bass that was fabulous!). And we have the usual chains with gluten-free menus (PF Changs, Outback, etc). I also had a WONDERFUL meal at Harry's Bar and Grill in La Jolla.

The Prado in Balboa Park will take care of you. Call ahead and ask for Jake to take care of you - he is an old friend and though he does not have Celiac, he is a damn good waiter and will make sure you have a great and delicious time!

Dragging this back up, as I'm getting ready to go (okay, I don't leave for 9 days, but I'm excited...can't you tell???).

Any other good places to eat? I'm a bit nervous... :rolleyes:

p.s. Jake only works dinner shifts at the Prado.

Tell him you have the same allergies as "Burk". He will know what you are talking about.

Other places to try in San diego:

1. The Gaslamp Strip Club - a steakhouse where you cook your own steak on big grills - good stuff and the steaks are cheaper!

2. San Diego Fish Market (on the harbor) -great seafood - fresh cuts of fish!

3. George's at the Cove (La Jolla) - expensive, but generally regarded as the best restaurant in SD

4. Mission Mission in Mission Beach (for breakfast) - great omelttes and non-celiacs will love the apple/granola pancakes.

5. Zen Sushi - some of the best sushi I have ever had...

I grew up in SD. My favorite places are:

1. Point Loma Seafood - kinda tucked away but not to be missed. Absolutely the best seafood I've ever found on the west coast. Super fresh right off the pier - no time to add gluten. Good fresh-squeezed lemonade, too.

2. Old Town San Diego - great for an evening meal. Best mex around.

Hope you have a good time! I'm getting jealous just thinking about the prospect of eating at those places. ;)

      This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers.       Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
