Odd Characters.

I'm just curious what causes these odd characters on some of the posts.

Here's an example:

½ teaspoon ground cumin

1 cup “instant” (5-minute) rice

I've noticed that this is not random but is consistent with a particular poster or two.

I thing that is a European type face. We had a Polish exchange student and the alphabet is different than those used in the US. And, perhaps not limited to Europe.

If you type something in Word and paste it here things will look odd due to fonts and settings that are different. The same is true if you paste something from another website.
