Need Some Re-assurance.....

Hi everyone.

As most of you know, my mom was hospitalized back in October with a bout of diverticulitis.

This morning, she had a colonoscopy. The doctor came in the waiting room to talk to me, saying that there was a narrowing of the bowel and he could only go so far. He has scheduled her to go back on Friday to have a barium done and he said he took biopsies today. He said most likely the part that is narrowed will have to be removed, and that he needs to send it to see if it is malignant.

I am scared. I finally have my mom close to me and we are really enjoying our time that we get to spend together now. I am scared that things won't come back okay......

The reassurance I need is people to tell me that a narrowing does not automatically mean cancer. That there is a strong possibility it is only diverticulitis, and that's it......

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I was close to my mom too. I don't know anything about the colonoscopy results. I just wanted to say I know how you feel and hope everything turns out ok.

I honestly don't know what a narrowing can mean. I'm sure there is more than one possibility, and we'll hope and pray that it is not serious.

My dad had a polyp that had turned cancerous, found on a colonoscopy. He did have to have it and a small section removed, but he was--and still is--fine. This was 31 years ago!

I will keep your mom in my prayers--let us know how she does :)

I don't know the answers to your question, but I can hold your hand. It could be something simple. Perhaps the prep was not as successfull as it should have been.

When my mom went in for her colonscopy she also had a narrowing and they just simply had to do the barium right after the colonscopy. The doc said the colonoscopy probe simply couldn't go any farther. It was either a narrowing, they thought, or just a weird juncture in her colon. She didn't have anything wrong with her.

Oh - and P.S. - I'm 30 - had my sigmoidoscopy when I was 29 and they found a little inflammatory polyp and it wasn't any big deal. Took it out, that was it.

      Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet. I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now. He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.       Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-F...

I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

      Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
