A & P Supermarket

Over the past year my local A &P has been stocking some gluten-free items such as Gluten Free Pantry mixes and cookies; so I wrote the headquarters in Montvale NJ a nice letter thanking them and asking for more stuff like Erewhon gluten-free and Glutino, etc. But thanking them profusely for adding gluten-free to their store.

Just last week mhy local A & P re-arranged their store and removed the entire gluten-free section! Removed as in no longer going to have gluten-free section! I spoke to someone there about it and they said that they'd find another spot for it but that was a week ago and it's still gone.

A & P (and I've been though other service issues with them over past few years) does not care about their customers and providing what their customers need; nor do they care when told. I guess I'll have to do my shopping at Shop Rite now as they have just isolated a section of their store with gluten-free foods.

I hear ya! My local Acme did the exact same thing. When they remodeled the store just before the holidays, the gluten free items just dissapeared.

I'm lucky that I have other stores around that carry lots of gluten-free foods--but they are still a bit of a drive. The Acme is right here in my town.

I know...I love that store, but it's a 20 minute drive. (and worth it!)

But, it was nice to have Gluten Free Pantry items at the Acme since it is so close. I guess I can't really complain though--I'm going to Wegman's later

Deb--Our Shoprite has a small gluten-free aisle, too. Not the greatest selection--but it actually saved me at the holidays. I had been to Wegman's, Whole Foods and the health food store and they were all out of the GFP pie crust mix. I stopped at Shoprite, not really expecting to find it, and they had several! It was funny because they only carry about 5 or 6 GFP products.

Our Acme right next door closed last October and we're lost without it just for regular groceries

Patti:

by the way, is the Kenny Chesney song about "Alcohol" on any album?

I'm not sure which song you mean...Kenny Chesney does a lot of songs that deal with alcohol, but none that I know of with that title.

There is a song called "Alcohol"--it's by Brad Paisley. It's on the album called "Time Well Wasted".

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
