Gluten Free? It is just rice with green onions and boiled shrimp in it. I didn't eat any yet. I thought I should ask about it first.

Thanks.

Made at home? From a restaurant?

Doesn't fried rice usually have soy sauce in it? Clarify some more, and I'm sure someone will chime in.

Rice, green onions and boiled shrimps, is gluten free...Yes.

If you ordered out, the soy sauce may not be and most likely not. There may be a cross-contamination issue if ordering out. Many food that came before your order would be soy (wheat) contaminated in the same cooking wok.

Some are very sensitive, others are not.

When you order, ask when it is an off time for business. Ask how they can prepare you a meal that will be gluten free. Oriental food is always good warmed up and they can prepare it carefully before the rush for dinner.

It is white rice with boiled shrimped and a seasoning called Het. That was all that they could tell me. I don't know what Het is. That is why I did not eat it yet. There is no soy sauce or anything else. It is sauteed in a wok. That is all the information that I have.

First off, I think there's usually other ingredients in it besides rice, onions & shrimp. Scrambled eggs & probably some oil. Sometimes peas or corn or carrots. Don't know if the shrimp would be boiled or not. Soy sauce as was mentioned or other seasonings.

Then there's many cross contamination opportunities in the kitchen. I've always been a little suspect of Chinese kitchens (even way before I had celiac) unless it's an open one where you can see the cooking. Where I use to live in Garland Texas, most of the worst health inspections are the asian restaurants. Good luck.

I love shrimp fried rice though. Gotta learn how to make it.

best regards, lm

Ah, Scott,    Ha ha!  Thats almost a reasonable assumption given the prices during the shortage.  However, our eggs?  We always gave them away to friends and seniors we know, so no mansion here.  Now we have to buy eggs like everyone else.   The house we found, we loved so much that it made it worth it for us to give up the chickens.  A hard decision.

Claritin is an allergy medication which can help with allergy symptoms, but may not be helpful with gluten exposure.

I know what you mean about the high cost of drugs. I recently had to get meds for my mother from a Canadian pharmacy because only the non-generic version is available is the USA, and it is ~$550 per month here, while in Canada the generic version is only around 1/3 the cost.

Reddit is another place to search, which I found this thread:

I wish I had known you during the egg shortage! Are you living in a mansion now from the eggs sales?😉
