Hey all. This is unrealistically hard to write about, but I have to start somewhere.

I seem to have some of the symptoms, but not all.I can eat a piece of Cheesecake no problem,

than next day have a sandwich,problem...Basically this is being asked with much respect and

as I've made an appointment with my Dr., I need some early advice. If I eat, say, a meatloaf and

pasta on the side, normally I have a normal "movement" the next day.Lately ,though, it seems that

even if all good as far as my moring "process",as soon as I eat lunch,in 30-60 mins I gotta go.Again I don't

even know if this is the right forum for this, but the net is not answering this for me.I'm 37 and led a pretty healthy

life style,no drinking/smoking,so as much as I'm scared it could be cancer I don't want to jump ANY guns.

Again if someone has had something similar happen to them,I'd appreciate any words! Also this has only started

to happen in the last four months to give a timeline,Thanks!

Fear not, we talk about poop all the time here. It is a common pastime for most of us. Please feel like you are home.

Questions: Are you stools abnormal recently. Do you have stomach cramping, nausea, urgency to go, discoloration or different in texture, acid in stools.....?

Fatique is often associated with celiac through malabnorbsion.

Celiac Disease has over 200 symptoms and not all of us are the same.

Please feel free to post more and add more of your concerns. There are alot of well educated, intellegent people who willingly are here to help newbies with their concerns. You will recieve more information here than your Doctor may even know.

Ask away and you can go into your Doctors office with valued information.

And, as always, welcome to the board.

Thanks a bunch,Momma. Abnormal as in seems ever time I eat(in the day) I have to go very soon. The stools are "choppy" as I can describe and the color is regular/light brown.Sometimes it is Diarrhea that's kinda mixed with regular, and other times just a normal movement.Nausea ,no(other than frustration, but not phsy) Stomach Cramping?A little, but not alot.Urgency to go yes (part of it real and serious, part seems to be my mind playing tricks on me).Other than that I guess my main concern is the time from eating to going, that really makes me feel strange, like I can'teat out with friends,co workers, etc.I'm on the road alot so I'm deely concerned.Again thanks for listening

Also I see "CC" everywhere. What is that? Thanks so much.

Also I see "CC" everywhere. What is that? Thanks so much.

CC refers to cross contamination. If you have celiacs or a gluten intolerance, sometimes the smallest bit will trigger a reaction. This includes such minute things as breads crumbs from a utensil or serving area that has gluten in it accidently being ingested by the celiac. Even a utensil that has flipped a gluten containing pancake can transfer enough gluten to a "gluten free" pancake to render it dangerous

Many people even get sick if they've eaten from a plastic dish or pan that had scratches in it, gluten can hide in those type places.

Welcome to the forum, please ask away. Lots of good info here.

BTW, I'm 42 years old and was just diagnosed last month. Up until then I had never had any major, lingering effects, until my small intestines became so damaged that I had stopped absorbing any nutrients and all my vital levels dropped to critical stages.

Gluten free diet has helped immensely and am feeling better now than I have in 20 years. Blood work indicates I am well on my way to recovery. Hope you get this figured out and start feeling 100% again soon.

Sounds very familiar to me, describes my symptoms before diagnosis and going gluten-free.

Best of luck to you. I hope your doc gets you the right tests.

Rick, You sound like I did about 6 years ago. White pasta cause a reaction? White bread worse than whole grain? Deep fried anything a killer, but especially something breaded? {{{shudder}}} It's great your seeking help now before it gets really ugly--and it DOES. I swear, I thought I was getting incontinent (or a variation of it) at 36! My sensitivity has picked up speed to no longer waiting 20 minutes for the bathroom and I'm doubled in pain if it's wheat based, but just REALLY uncomfortable if it's other glutens. I expect this to advance as time progresses, too, EXCEPT I'm going gluten free now, so it's really NOT. To quote my daughter, "Yay me!" Yay for you, too. Good luck!

My last couple months before being diagnosed was marked with frequent and sometimes VERY urgent trips to the bathroom. Looking back, I see a lot of correlation to particular foods I ate, most high in gluten content.

Until I started healing up here the last couple weeks, I had no idea you're really only supposed to go once a day B)

No problem, that's what we're here for

Actually, the doctor didn't order the blood panel until after I had to be hospitalized because of my low nutrient levels from the malabsorption (I was in serious danger of cardiac failure). This all came about rather quickly and luckily my doctor was pretty familiar with celiacs, so she ordered the blood work. I was supposed to see my GI doctor for the first time the day I was hospitalized, so he just cut to the chase and did the endoscopy and confirmed the Dx.

Danna Korn has a book called "Living gluten free for Dummies" that is a very good resource to have. " Wheat free, worry free" is another one I've seen mentioned, but don't know the author.

Comprehensive lists of stuff that is ok to eat are hard to come by, but NoGluGirl has a very good list to help people get started. Hopefully she will see this thread and post it, if not I'll search for it and post it. Also, check out Amanda's mommy blog. She has several categories of gluten free stuff on her blogs list.

Hang in there buddy, it gets better. It's good to see you getting some info before you see your doctor, chances are you might go in more familiar with celiacs than they are!

Either way, I'd demand a blood panel be ran the next time you see them.

Take care and good luck, any other questions please ask B)

having to go to the bathroom shortly (within the hour) after you eat is a fairly common physiologic response to eating. if you're talking about extraordinary urgency, diahrrea, or the like, that is a different issue. that's not to say, if you have other reasons for suspecting celiac, that it isn't celiac, of course - the best course of action is blood testing while on gluten, and (either after a biopsy or after deciding you won't be doing a biopsy) trying the diet.

Definitely get vitamin D 25(OH)D.  Celiac Disease causes vitamin D deficiency and one of the functions of vitamin D is modulating the genes.  While we can survive with low vitamin D as an adaptation to living in a seasonal environment, the homeostasis is 200 nmol/L.  Vitamin D Receptors are found in nearly every cell with a nucleus, while the highest concentrations are in tissues like the intestine, kidney, parathyroid, and bone.  A cellular communication system, if you will. The vitamin D receptor: contemporary genomic approaches reveal new basic and translational insights  Possible Root Causes of Histamine Intolerance. Iodine also plays a crucial role in histamine regulation."

I forgot to mention my suspicion of the high amount of glyphosate allowed to be used on wheat in USA and NZ and Australia. My weight was 69kg mid-2023, I went down to 60kg in March 2024 and now hover around 63kg (just after winter here in NZ) - wheat-free and very low alcohol consumption.

Hi Jess Thanks so much for your response and apologies for the long delay in answering. I think I must have been waiting for something to happen before I replied and unfortunately it fell off the radar... I have had an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in the meantime (which revealed 'minor' issues only). Yes I do think histamine intolerance is one of the problems. I have been lowering my histamine intake and feeling a lot better. And I do think it is the liver which is giving the pain. I am currently taking zinc (I have had three low zinc tests now), magnesium, B complex, vitamin E and a calcium/Vitamin C mix. I consciously think about getting vitamin D outside. (Maybe I should have my vitamin D re-tested now...) I am still 100% gluten-free. My current thoughts on the cause of the problems is some, if not all, of the following: Genetically low zinc uptake, lack of vitamin D, wine drinking (alcohol/sulphites), covid, immune depletion, gastroparesis, dysbiosis, leaky gut, inability to process certain foods I am so much better than late 2023 so feel very positive 🙂

Hi and thank you very much for your detailed response! I am so glad that the protocol worked so well for you and helped you to get your health back on track. I've heard of it helping other people too. One question I have is how did you maintain your weight on this diet? I really rely on nuts and rice to keep me at a steady weight because I tend to lose weight quickly and am having a hard time envisioning how to make it work, especially when not being able to eat things like nuts and avocados. In case you have any input, woud be great to hear it! Friendly greetings.
