My Daughters Movie Debut In Cannes In The Fall

Please don't get excited, just a mothers boast.

Two summer ago a movie crew here and did some shooting for a movie. It is called "Dog Days of Summer". We have not heard much so I googled it. The movie will make it's film debut in Cannes Film Festival in the Fall. The move stars Will Patton, and boy is he such a nice guy and very down to earth.

Annie plays the "girlfriend" of married Pastor Salem, played by R. Keith Harris (did a Spiderman stint), but his name is not on my celeb list. No improprieties as the girl friend, just walking in an out of his home. She was one to two "townies" that had a more significant role. Non speaking role, but not an extra either.

Oh, well. It's just a fun little experience in her young life.

Nothing redeeming in this post, but I think it's kinda cool.

That's pretty cool. My grandfather had a very small role in a British War Movie back in the 50's. He had one speaking line, something along the lines of "General, here's the map." I forget. and he's seen in the background several times. When it became available through some obscure movie video sales place in Europe, my mom obtained a copy, and it's a treasured family object.

Hopefully in this day and age, it'll be easier to have and keep you're daughters movie!

And who knows where it might lead...have you ever seen those TV specials where the highlight famous peoples first movie/tv appearence? Many times it's pretty modest.

I was a stunt double in a kayak a few years ago for a Chevy truck commercial. Unfortunately, I never actually saw the commercial, but I was paid well for the day and received a few modest residual checks. To this day, it's the most money I've made in one day! And it was interesting to be on set for the day.

Congrats! Is it a "chick flick"? If so, I'll probably end up seeing it, as my wife loves them!

Thanks Nancy, it's fun. But to wait. Annie is the left of my avatar. She's a sweetie, but down with the flu, first wedding anniversary June 10 and calling momma. I like that. :)

That is exciting. Hopefully she doesn't end up on the "cutting room floor"!!!! That would super stink.

I have to agree, how cool!! My ex husbands brother had a friend, trying to make it in the movie business, started just like your daughter is, and now is a stand in (sometimes) for Ben Stiller in certain movies, I forget which and I am not calling the ex to find out!

But still, way cool for your daughter!! wooohooo!

thats great, yeah as was said above there is no such thing as a small part. My great great grandpa was in merry popins, he played the man on the roof that had the cannon. my whole family still remembers him to this day because of it, its amazing how a small part in anything can stick with generations

Lister--I loved Mary Poppins! I saw it as a child, and had the album with all of the music from the movie. That's really something that your great-grandpa was in it. :D

Lisa - - very cool! :) I myself was an extra in two movies....."Ed TV" w/ Matthew McConnaughey - - YES he was ON SET filming the same day I was, in San Francisco.....I stood about four feet away from him at one point, and nearly fainted! Also I filmed a full day for "Puppet Masters" here in Fresno.

Alas, I did end up on cutting room floor, in BOTH!! :angry: Ha ha, still can't complain, had a blast doing both and will never forget either.

Oh, funny thing is, when I did casting call in SF for Ed TV, I lived in Monterey. about two months went by, and I totally forgot about it....they called at 11 pm on April 1st. I thought it was my friend Roger, playing a joke as he knew how much I loved Matthew.....but no, it was true! They wanted me in SF at 8 a.m. the next day, with five outfits, to play a paparazzo. Holy cow, I called my mom at that hour (she also lived in Monterey), said, I have this and this scheduled for tomorrow, what should I do?? and she said.....HONEY, it's MATTHEW, snap out of it, you are GOING!! :lol: so I got about two hours of sleep, got up at 3, left at 5 and arrived on time. Didn't even begin filming until 5 pm the next day. But ate and chatted all day and goofed off, got paid for it. Made many friends, and then did the Bay to Breakers with them a month later....a whole OTHER story!

Stood next to Ron Howard, who is VERY nice, as he watched the dailies. :)

Would you believe, out of our entire two days of filming (both movies), hardly any of it made it to the screen. :huh: In fact, the entire day in Fresno, involving many repeat helicopter landings, was re-shot. Very long and taxing, these filming days. Very complex. Gave me a whole new appreciation for movie making.

Anywho, it's a blast, and she is SO fortunate to actually be IN the movie!! You will go out of your mind when you see her, Lisa. :)

Matthew McConnaughey -- oooooooooooooh! Isn't he still single? I saw some television program that featured him at his home. He sleeps in every bedroom of the house because he likes them all! I thought that was pretty cool. Not to mention that the man is WAY too gorgeous! You need to find out if he's doing another movie and apply for a part as an extra again. This time, though, be more assertive -- introduce yourself, sweetie!

:lol::lol: Yes you lunatic, that's about all we did together.....he was not friendly, unlike woody harrelson, who was flirting with everyone (he seemed......altered, I am sure that is not hard to belive). Matthew looked right at me, didn't even smile or anything. And Lynnie - - I was MUCH prettier and younger......um, guess what, Matthew is reported to be quite stinky, he refuses to use deodorant and doesn't bathe regularly.....but he is allegedly QUITE fun....yes, very hot.....I like his airstream and his barbecuing prowess....not sure about the naked marijauana-induced bongo playing :huh:

but, um, let's see.....he broke up with Penelope Cruz and also Sandra Bullock, and he does want children......I don't really think he would give little ol' ME the time of day, I gah-raun-tee it. :lol: Besides, I ahve lost interest in him......moved on.....don't have a new crush these days - - although there IS a photo of Dr. McDreamy on my fridge.

Your girls are both beautiful. Who knows maybe this could be one of those things that leads somewhere and if not it can be one of those things you can all look back on in years to come. I think that is just wonderful and I think it's great that you are proud of her.

      First of all, being able to return to foods that you have developed a sensitivity to in connection with celiac disease is not a given. You may or may not be able to do this with time. But the ability to do so seems to be connected with the healing of the villous lining of the small bowel which often takes 2-3 years in adults after attaining to consistently...

But I'm curious about your statement, "I probably don't fit the diagnostic criteria for a diagnosis of Celiac Disease." Perhaps your understanding of what that encompasses is...

But you will just have to test the waters. Experimentation with those foods is the only way. Realize also there are thresholds of tolerance. You may be able to consume those foods without issue but not as often and in lesser amounts than in your pre celiac days. So, start small and go slow.

      Welcome to the forum, @Waterdance! Constipation and diarrhea are classic celiac symptoms and hemorrhoids is usually the outworking of either or both of those two problems. But I'm curious about your statement, "I probably don't fit the diagnostic criteria for a diagnosis of Celiac Disease." Perhaps your understanding of what that encompasses is outdated and deficient, as is also true of many physicians. Actually, now there are over 200 symptoms and medical conditions that have come to be associated with celiac disease and the list keeps growing.  And you use the term "gluten intolerance". What does that mean to you? Actually, gluten intolerance is a catch all term referring to two different gluten disorders: celiac disease and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder characterized by ingested gluten triggering the immune system to attack the lining of the small bowel. NCGA or just, gluten sensitivity, for short, is a reaction to gluten that is not autoimmune in nature (neither is it an allergic reaction per se) but it's symptoms overlap with that of celiac disease. We actually don't know a lot about NCGS yet but some experts believe it can be a precursor to celiac disease and it is 10x more common that celiac disease.  There are some blood antibody tests that are pretty specific to celiac disease but they require that you have been eating normal amounts of gluten for weeks/months prior the blood draw. Having the blood draw done while being gluten free or even having been on a reduced gluten diet will invalidate the testing. There was a recent article posted in this forum about testing being developed that did not require breaking a gluten fast but it is not available yet. When and if it is, that will be a giant breakthrough because so many people experiment with the gluten free diet before they ever get tested and can't safely utilize the "gluten challenge" because their reactions are too severe. So, they can't distinguish whether they have NCGS or celiac disease and must live with the ambiquity.  There are also some people who react negatively to all cereal grains. You may be one of them. Technically speaking, gluten is found only in wheat, barley rye, and some cultivars of oats. But all cereal grains contain proteins that more or less are similar to gluten and, apparently, similar enough to cause a gluten-like reaction in some people.  Have you experimented with non-cereal alternative grains like buck wheat or sorghum? Can you substitute potatoes for grains to get calories? Have you looked into SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth)/histamine intolerance? This could also explain the problems you are having. You are not going to want to hear this because you will feel like you are starving but the Auto Immune Protocol Diet will probably make you feel a lot better.

      Hi and thanks for this place to ask questions. I have been diagnosed with a gluten and milk allergy but so far I have no Celiac diagnosis and honestly I probably don't fit the diagnostic criteria for a diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I've come here because I'm having problems and you all would be knowledgeable about gluten free diets.   An allergist diagnosed me with a gluten and milk allergy about 15 years ago but she said "if you eat a lot of it, don't worry about it." This haunted me because I did not eat a lot of it but it was in my diet. Going 100% gluten free was daunting so I struggled with lowering my intake and observing results when adding it back. Due to aging, I think, the problem is worse now. I know ingesting gluten almost immediately causes a hemorrhoid flare up. It's very painful and I have severe chronic issues with it and even one surgery which did not solve much and the problem came back with vengeance. I know from my own experiments that I can build a tolerance to gluten in my diet but overall if I want to avoid chronic pain and discomfort I should just eliminate it entirely.   When it comes to my diet, I found not only gluten to be problematic but all grains! This is terrifying to me. Keeping a grain free diet was difficult and left me hungry all the time.   My question for you all is do you have any tips to help me live on a grain free diet sustainably long term? And Do any of you know of or heard of hemorrhoids, constipation and diarrhea being main symptoms to gluten intolerance?
