I watched "Go Further", a Woody Harrelson documentary about a bike ride he took from Seattle to Santa Barbara. They had a raw food cook on board their support bus, and ate some interesting food.

On his website, there are recipes. the fruit and paint is really interesting -- I've made it and it's good. If you can stomach nut butters, it's a nice breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack. Check it out:

Yay! So there ARE vegan celiacs out there :) Haha. I think we should all start a forum where we pass around recipes...and advice. I think vegan celiacs, or "vegiacs" are a bit rare!

I'm in the same boat (the vegan part by choice, the gluten free part not so much <_< ). There's actually a group on yahoo groups that's for vegan celiacs. They have recipes, etc., so you might consider joining.

Oh I like the name vegiacs! Been called worse! There are some great raw food recipes in Living Nutrition Magazine. Cant find the URL just ow but you should be able to find it online. They also have some cook books which are pretty neet. I write some things for them about tropical fruit so the publisher sent me a copy and I've put on 5 pounds since I got it!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
