Dental Problems?

Panopticism

Panopticism Rookie

Anyone here experience dental problems, ie. bad teeth no matter how hard you try? I brush my teeth a lot, and still, I have a holes in my teeth. I did some research and found an article that links the malabsorption of celiac disease to weakening of the enamel in teeth. Just curious if any others have experienced bad teeth and think it may be a result of celiac disease.

Thanks. :)

I had a tooth crack. It was during period when I had ribs crack on 3 different occasions. Probably due to calcium problems due to celiac disease.

I also have gum recession for as yet unknown reasons.

My older son had no less than 12 cavities on his first dentist appointment, and I am a tooth brushing Nazi. He should not have had all those cavities. At the time, the dentist told me that I gave my son too much fruit juice. What??? Candy, I would've understood (had I given him much, but everyone said I was a meany because I wouldn't let my kids have any candy.) ...but this little boy has 12 cavities from too much (100%) fruit juice!? Puh-leeze.

Yep. I was a teeth-brushing Nazi, too, and my daughter has had endless cavities. She hasn't had a checkup since dx so I'll be interested to see.

We did get her some of that Listerine that shows blue where more brushing is necessary, but they took it off the market because it wasn't safe for people with compromised immune systems. Kinda stinks because she really brushed well with that stuff.

Luke's pediatric dental specialist told me to have him swish every night with ACT for kids. It's a flouride rinse, though, not an antiseptic or anything. She said it might help build his enamel back up, which I've since heard is impossible... At the time, I didn't know enough to ask her why his enamel wasn't up to par to begin with. Now, of course I know it's from Celiac.

We tried the blue stuff at one point, but it would never show up on his teeth! I have no idea why

Yes i have dental problems, most of my back teeth have fillings and my front two fang teeth are becoming discoloured even though i brush regularly, i also have a hole developing in one of the teeth at the side of my front two.

p.s-

Ive not been tested for gluten intolerence but i am suspecting that is whats causeing my symptoms.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
