So a few of my friends were planning our annual holiday outing together, where we meet in the NYC area and share a meal, drinks, laughter and some gifts. Having just started the gluten free life, i had some concerns about eating out, as some of the places they were suggesting seemed a bit difficult. so i explained the situation to all of them and did a gluten free restaurant search. i found bistango in nyc. reviews were great for all meals including gluten free stuff......

soooo.... it was a great dining experience. i was very uneasy eating out for the first time since going gluten free, but they brought me out a warm, crusty piece of gluten-free italian bread and my own oil for dipping. i had the mahi mahi special for dinner with a pomodoro sauce, sliced olives and capers... and a side of gluten-free pasta tossed with olive oil and garlic. all in all it was a great meal, and the best part for me was that it didn't inconvenience my friends in any way. everyone raved about the food! they were very accommodating and i felt very safe eating there!

i just wanted to share the good news. i left with a huge smile on my face :)

My husband and I went to Bistango this summer. I am gluten free, he is not but we both ordered from the gluten-free selections so that we could share and we both thought everything was excellent.

We want to visit NYC for a weekend soon. How are the prices? I know in New York you pay more than elsewhere, but we also don't want to break the bank.

It's very reasonable (and as everyone else said excellent). I'm not sure where you're from, but by NY standards this is moderately priced.

Agreed, as far as New York is concerned this restaurant is very reasonably priced. That was something we were looking for with this group (aside from gluten free for me). It is definitely a bit cheaper than most Italian restaurants in the city. I highly recommend, and ENJOY!! I'm dying to try Risotteria also, which is supposed to be amazing. Might be somewhere else you'd like to try when you're in NYC.

I lived around the corner from Bistango for about 11 years, and was delighted when they started offering Gluten Free. It was one of my favorite local spots before I discovered I was a Celiac.

The restaurant itself is inexpensive by New York City standards, but the Gluten Free Pasta dishes are maybe $3-4 higher, if I recall correctly.

But being able to dine out with non-Celiacs in a real restaurant, a good restaurant, in New York City, was truly priceless.

I love this restaurant. My parents live a block away from it. I loved it before I was gluten free and that they now cater to celiacs is just amazing. Everyone who works there is fantastic. They also have great deserts including this new bar with chocolate and cashews that is amazing. I highly reccommend it

I was told that Bistango is now offering Gluten-Free Pizzas. Can't confirm, but if true, makes it even more of a reason to stop by :D

They do have at least one gluten free pizza at Bistango..I believe it's the Margarita pizza..but they may have more than that. If you want a really great PIZZA place in NYC (gluten free) then you must try Mozzarelli's...they have amazing gluten free pizza! It's near 23rd st. between Park and Madison..They have just as many gluten free pizza options as they do regular pizza options (about 8-10 of each)..which makes it nice, b/c your non celiac friends/family can accompany you, and everyone enjoys! They also have a few gluten free dessert options as well..I had a wonderful tiramisu there :)

      So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.

      I used to be able to get the Rivera yougut i havent been able to get it lately. I like getting it did say it did say gluten free. I just looking for a good yogurt that gluten free that i can add some fruit and nuts to any suggestion would be helpful  thanks
