Ttg 53.1 So Now What?

Hi! Finally heard back about daughters blood & stool tests. Stool tests were negative. Ttg was still elevated at 53.1. So she must still be getting gluten. We are very strict with her diet, she doesn't eat any food outside the houses without asking first, she reads labels like crazy, have checked shampoos, chapstick, lotions, etc. So now what?? I did post a question about our cat the other day so I will switch to a gluten free cat food. Although she never feeds the cat but still could be getting CC from it maybe??

She still is bleeding when going to the bathroom. Any ideas.

Thanks.

I was out browsing and noticed that you didn't get any responses so I thought I would bump this up for you and also give you a few things to check . . .

First, what was her initial Ttg and when was it done? Has it gone down?

Does she have her own toaster? Are you using any cast iron pans that were used for gluten items? Scratches on your nonstick cookware? I got new cake pans and cookie sheets because the old had those hard baked on oil marks which would have held onto the gluten. New can opener? (Have you noticed the ring of crud that builds up on the blade?) New strainer/colandar/cutting board? Crumbs in the silverware drawer? (Mine had 'em.) I got new spatulas, too - most of my old just looked suspicious.

Is the whole house gluten free or just your daughter?

Have ya'll removed dairy... does anyone know if that will affect your Ttg? I know my daughter has the same "celiac symptoms" with dairy and soy as she does gluten, i would think it would affect her numbers. Are you sure she isn't cheating at school or friends houses? I hate to even say that, but it would be so hard to not cheat when you are diagnosed with celiac at the age of 13. You already know how good gluten is, and food is a social thing at that age. I cant imagine a kid that age speaking up for herself in front of a group of friends and saying she couldnt eat at a specific place. I dont want to say that your daughter is cheating though... im not accusing, only giving hopefully a helpful suggestion :) I was going to mention replacing all the kitchenware etc, but the previous post beat me to it. I hope ya'll figure it out soon!

Don't know about the bleeding, but the ttg could still be up. Mine wasn't tested again until after 6 months.

Oh wow, i didnt realize it had only been 3 months. Richard has a good point, it's probably just still elevated! Has it gone down from what it originally was?

7. Monitor serum antibody levels

Patients are advised to have follow-up antibody levels measured at 6 and 12 months. Most patients have normal levels by that time though it may take up to 3 years to normalize in some individuals. It is reasonable to assess antibody levels annually. This will serve to monitor adherence to the diet though is not sensitive for minor dietary indiscretions

*If she has only been gluten-free for less than 5 months, then as long as the numbers are falling, I think it fits clinical findings. What were original numbers? Was she scoped originally to rule out other problems, since other GI diseases are present in your family (Eos, UC, Crohns, etc.)?

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
