Our local Safeway/Genuardi's carries Food for Life bread products. How are they? Anything you recommend? Thank you!

I like the Rice Almond bread. It is much better if it is heated in the microwave.

I personally do not care for any of the FFL breads. I think they are much too heavy and dense. Their brown rice tortillas, however, are fabulous.

Thanks...I'll have to try the tortillas.

Would the rice almond bread be good for grilled cheese for my DD, or does the almond flavor make it more of a breakfast bread?

Thanks again!

The Rice Almond bread is very dense. It is best for open face heated sandwiches like turkey or tuna melts. I have never tried to grill it but I have put just cheese on one piece and microwaved it. I like the taste but is it very different from regular bread.

IMO, Kinnikinnick white sandwich bread would make a good grilled cheese sandwich.

I also love love love the Food For Life Brown Rice Tortillas.

As with most gluten-free bread substitute products you need to toast them or warm them in the oven or microwave. The rice flour and other alternative flours have different properties than wheat and when cold or at room temperature they will seem dry and tough, warming them up remedies this.

The tortillas make great wraps for all kinds of sandwiches and quesadillas, burritos.

I don't mind the FFL gluten-free breads, they are dense like everyone mentioned and have a different taste.

If you are looking for something that is exactly like white wheat bread for your daughter's grilled cheese though, these breads probably aren't it.

We liked the tortillas. We haven't tried the breads. I know that we did NOT care for their bagels . . . we do like the (plain) glutino bagels.

I like to make French Toast with the FFL Rice Almond bread.

I am not a fan of their breads, I have to say. The slices are tiny and really dense, and the texture is off. They're OK in a pinch, but I much prefer kinnikinnick's breads or homemade bread. There's better out there IMO, particularly if you're not used to gluten-free bread. But I do want to try the tortillas! Mission corn tortillas are good, but they're also tiny and fall apart so they're not great for wraps.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
