Aghhhhhh! Gas Prices

When I started driving gas was 89 cents a gallon....that was only 10 yrs ago.

Amanda, I remember that, too! :lol: I started driving about 13 years ago, and it was about 88, 89 cents. So that's an increase of what, 250% or something? Insane.

It now costs me 65-70 bucks a week just to get my kids to school and back home, and do my shopping (which I always do very efficiently.)

NC has the highest state gas tax in our region- 2-3 times what the surrounding states are.

What gets me is that, of course it's not just increased spending at the gas pump, but groceries also go up because of increased shipping costs, etc. And of course, there's people trying to heat their old houses with gas...

Gas and groceries go up in leaps and bounds, but our paychecks can't keep up with it. Something ends of getting cut somewhere...

Right now in Lahaina (on Maui) it's about $3.98 (plus taxes). I'm headed home now (outside of Salem, Oregon) where it's about $3.30.

I WISH we could take public transit!! Since we live in a small town, there isn't anything. And DH works 14 miles away!! He does carpool home from work though. That helps.

      Thanks, at that price it was a complete no brainer. I also went through the reviews and a number of folks with our ailment gave it 5-stars. It won't be here until the end of the month, which may give me enough time to finish the books I have. Also, in an effort to play it safe and see if I start feeling better again...I tossed out my remaining bananas...

      link works but you may have enhanced security blocking it. In Edge you have to click on continue to site when the security warning opens. Other browsers or antivirus may just block it because it is not https.

      It looks like she has a couple of books that share "The Paleo Approach" in the title. I ordered this one, as the other is a cookbook. The Paleo Approach: Reverse Autoimmune Disease and Heal Your Body Thanks again for the info.

      I posted this comment, along with contact information, to the above mentioned government website: "I have noticed that many food companies voluntarily include information in their ingredient/allergen label section when the product is made in an environment where cross contamination with any of the nine major allergens recognized by the FDA may also be likely. Even though celiac disease and gluten sensitivity are, technically speaking, not allergic responses, it would seem, nonetheless, appropriate to include "gluten" in that list for the present purpose. That would insure that food companies would be consistent with including this information in labeling. Best estimates are that 1% of the general population, many undiagnosed of course, have celiac disease and more than that are gluten sensitive."

Also, in an effort to play it safe and see if I start feeling better again...I tossed out my remaining bananas and will keep them out of my diet for the next 6-months.  😀 Thank you for sharing your experiences and making recommendations to a noob like me.
