Has anyone successfully made Spatzle using gluten free flours? And, if so... can you tell me which ones?

If anyone has a recipe to share, I'll be eternally grateful. :)

Well, I personally don't like Spaetzle, but I did a google search for you. Here is a promising link Open Original Shared Link

Here is a recipe, from this site: Open Original Shared Link

From: Ross2317@AOL.COM

Subject: Spaetzle Noodles

My friend who's daughter is celiac turned me on to these. My daughters,

especially my non-celiac, love them! They are easy to make and a good

way to sneak an egg into your kids

To make these delicious and fresh tasting noodles you must first travel

to your nearest cooking store and buy a spaetzle noodle maker. They cost

about $7.00 and look like a flat cheese grater.

You can make the batter while boiling the water:

1 c. gluten-free Blend

2 eggs

1/2 c. water, milk, or buttermilk

1/2 tsp xanthum gum

Follow the instructions on the noodle maker box and enjoy!!!

These really are very very good!!!!!

Hi, I make them fairly often as my granddaughter loves them too. (same one in my picture<G>) We use soba / buckwheat flour although I will coat my hands and spatzle maker with quinoa flour. Dont really know why but the soba is very sticky and it seems to work better. The machine is just a little thing I picked up which holds a hand full of dough where you slide the holder back and forth over about a 3/8 inch hole. Gravity does the rest. The dough falls into water thats at a full rolling boil.

I have tried other recipes where I mix oinion juice with water or grated cheese. Emmenthaler usually but any will work. I did decide I like to mix in the cheese after the spatzel drain and with a ton or 2 of sweet onions.

Some chefs I know use anchovy paste in the dough which I do for noodles at times but not for spatzel.

Hope it works for you

Thank you, thank you!!!

So, what type of gluten-free flour is best to use to make schnitzel?

Obviously... I'm way into German food right now. Ursula - I wasn't born there, but my family is German... and I just spent a few days in a lovely little German town called Hermann, in Missouri, this past week. I really wanted to eat all those yummy goodies. I have to find a way to make my own. =)

Not Ursula but I make schnitzel fairly frequently. I just dip in egg, rice flour, egg again and then gluten free bread crumbs. They taste pretty good to me but I'd certainly be happy to hear from anyone who has made these with other flours and has a favourite.

My mom makes a schnitzel-type dish too (but she uses turkey cutlets, not veal) and uses corn flour with spices (IDK what exactly, but you could look that up) for the breading

I tend to use turkey or chicken as well. How do you like the taste with corn flour?

HAK1031 Enthusiast

It's really yummy. But the predominant taste is the spices and the peanut oil.

Do you know what spices she uses. I don't need amounts, I can wing it but would love to try a different way on my family.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
