For any of you out here in Raleigh land or close by, a new restuarant is opening in the downtown area called Rosie's Plate. They run a completely gluten-free kitchen and are planning to open somewhere around May 20th. I am soo excited, as this is one of the first around here. I just want some pizza!!!!

Anyway, I'm sure you can google it for more info (their website) or you can PM me if you want more info. But I am soo very excited I just wanted to share with everyone else!!!

YES!!!!! Info please! I'll mark the friggin date and go to the grand opening, Ian will be thrilled!

A side note, Ian has aspirations of being a chef and has over the years made menus and plans and all kinds of things for the restaurant he's going to open when he grows up. He's been very consistent, he always wanted to call it Pizza Panda.

Tonight he told me that he "either wants to be the president or a chef" when he grows up and if he opens a restaurant he's going to call it "Celiac Panda"! :D

Thank you. I had googled it last night but the only hit I got was the article in Natural Living magazine, which I now need to go find!

Hi everyone. I just moved into the area and was searching for places to eat and other gluten-free people. I am excited to hear about a place that is totally gluten-free. I am in Clayton-Smithfield and so far the pickings have been slim. Although if you love BBG most of them are gluten-free.

Not to hijack a thread, but to spread a bit of info, I talked to the owners of 2 places and they said they can make meals specially for us. They are the twisted fork up at triangle town mall and a Greek place called Mythos on Tryon rd.

If people are planning on going to the grand opening, please PM me. My wife and I would love to meet others in the area. Dining out is so much more fun when you do not have to explain to everyone else that you are sending your salad back because they put a crouton on it.

PS. As to the pizza, Whole food just started making their own gluten-free pizza crusts which are very good. They make a fair size personal pizza. It is thick and chewy like Chicago pizza.

I emailed with the owner of Rosie's Plate. They are not a restaurant, more of a takeout type of place where you order your food the day before and perhaps would pick it up on your way home after work kind of thing. I was a bit disappointed, but it is still a great resource!

Twisted Fork is a really good ,medium/upscale restaurant, I've been a couple of times, though that was before we were gluten-free, so I never had to address that issue.

Truthfully, in this area, we're in Garner, we've had the absolute best luck with Outback. The manager there is very knowledgeable and friendly and my son loves his choices on the gluten-free menu. ttkling, you might also want to consider the Cleveland Ale House not too far from you. While they don't seem awfully knowledgeable they've been great to work with and their fries are fried in a dedicated fryer and are gluten-free. They have great burgers too.

We have eaten at Outback. They had them up in Yankee land (Milwaukee). I did not know that their thunder down under was gluten-free. Now that is our place to get dessert.

We saw the ale house and thought about going there. Now we will have to try.

Mythos is very good if you like Greek food. We have had lunch there. They make everything from scratch so just let them know that you are gluten-free and they will make is special for you. Takes a bit longer thanfast food, but it is very good.

Todd.

If I can figure out the PM on the site I will send you my e-mail. Maybe we can get a group to go out for dinner together. The grand opening sounded like fun, but we could get people to go to another resturaunt. nothing encourages a place to cater to gluten-free people like having a group show up.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
