Dear all

Was diagnosed with celiac disease only six weeks ago and within three days of changing my diet to gluten-free, my 7 months pregnant looking tummy had gone back to usual - I was ecstatic. Weight was still the same - kept hoping it would go down. All was going well until suddenly last week my stomach blew up again leaving me in a lot pain - as a newbie - can I ask you others:

1) How long do you find it can take to ease after accidentally eat gluten?

2) Is there anything I can do in the meantime to ease the severe bloating?

3) Has anybody else found that their weight is still the same / gaining - I'm already heavy and I thought going gluten-free the weight would reduce.

Any help / advice gratefully received. :)

I don't get the severe bloating so I can't help you there. But I am overweight and I also thought that eating gluten free would automatically cause me to lose weight. Then I read on this forum that rice turns to sugar much quicker than wheat----not good for the diet. I realized that most of the gluten foods I had replaced with rice based products. So now I limit those things and try to stick to a basic meat and veggies type of diet . I have lost 10 pounds so far.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?

Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.
