Does Anyone Know?

Hi

I am wondering if anyone knows if there is an alternative to donuts?...

I find I am missing them so much... and I am wondering if there are any recipes out there?

Also, does anyone know if Sydney rock oysters are gluten free?....

I just love oysters , but don't know if they contain any gluten?

I'd like to make a morney sauce for them, and was thinking of using whitewings cornflour

(it says that's gluten free)

How reliable are packets of ingredience that say gluten free?

And also... I bought some frozen veges

they are heinz

steam fresh

with carros, sugarsnap peas and broccoli with basil chives and parsley

the pack says no added flavour

no added colour

no added preservatives

99% fat free

rich in dietary fibre

suitable for vegetarians

seasoned with gourmet garden herbs

I can't see anything in it that might be harmful?...

Kinnikinnic makes gluten-free doughnuts. Maybe you can order them online if you can't find them in Australia. As far as the oysters go... are they raw? Gluten-wise, they shouldn't be a problem! You only have to worry about gluten if you're eating processed food or the food is being prepared in the same area as gluten foods (on a shared grill, for example).

Hello

Heinz products are clearly marked.. I do a lot of taste sampling for bakers/vendors plus do a lot of promoting the best of the best in gluten-free! I can say that Celiac Specialities has the very best donuts to date. They also freeze well. They also have many other products. We buy the donuts.

Open Original Shared Link has loads of wonderful recipes. The flour is also excellent. I make hot pockets, crossiants, pretzels & so much from her recipe section.

A great cookbook is Baking Classics from Annalise Roberts, ice cream sandwiches , wonderful cupckes, french bread & more.

I only buy the cream of the crop . There are bad tasting gluten-free products , good gluten-free products, & then the cream of the crop. There are great bakers popping up these days.

If you need hints on the finer things available give me a pm.

I have not yet tried this recipe, and it takes a lot of work, clearly, but it sounds promising. I've made other gluten free donut recipes, but have been less than impressed with the results, even as "cake" type donuts go. This recipe promises to be close to the normal glazed donut we are accustomed to: Open Original Shared Link

I don't have recipes, but we purchase the Celiac Specialities ones....I absolutely love their little donut holes. Delicious.

Ingredient lists that state that they are gluten free are usually gluten free. However, even if it says gluten-free, it is wise to always read the label and look for w/r/b/o. Do you have the list of companies that have good labeling practices?

The vast majority of frozen veggies are gluten free, and I would eat those.

I looked further into Thiamax Vitamin B1 by objective nutrients and read all the great reviews. I think I will give this a try. I noticed only possible side affect is possibly the first week so body adjusts. Life Extensions carries Benfotiamine with Thiamine and the mega one you mentioned. Not sure if both in one is better or seperate. some reviews state a laxative affect as side affect. SHould I take with my super B complex or just these 2 and multivitamin? I will do further research but I appreciate the wonderful explanation you provided on Thiamine.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?

There are eight essential B vitamins.  They are all water soluble.  Any excess of B vitamins is easily excreted by the kidneys.   Thiamine is Vitamin B 1.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Benfotiamine and TTFD are forms of Thiamine that the body can utilize very easily.   The form of Thiamine in the supplements you mentioned is Thiamine Mononitrate, a form that the body does not absorb well and does not utilize well.  Only about thirty percent of the amount on the label is actually absorbed in the small intestine.  Less than that can actually be used by the body.  Manufacturers add thiamine mononitrate to their products because it's cheap and shelf-stable.  Thiamine and other B vitamins break down when exposed to light and heat and over time.  Thiamine Mononitrate is a form that does not break down over time sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to buy them.  What makes Thiamine Mononitrate shelf stable makes it difficult for the body to turn into a useable form.  In fact, it takes more thiamine to turn it into a useable form.   Gastrointestinal Beriberi is a localized shortage of Thiamine in the gastrointestinal tract.  High carbohydrate meals can result in gastrointestinal symptoms of Gastric Beriberi.  Fiber is a type of carbohydrate.  So, high fiber/carbohydrate snacks could trigger Gastric Beriberi.   Since blood tests for Thiamine and other B vitamins are so inaccurate, the World Health Organization recommends trying Thiamine and looking for health improvement because it's safe and nontoxic.
