Mastic Gum?

I am desperate to find an alternative to eradicating my h.pylori. I have gotten some good info on here from members, and i thank you!!

I know DGL is supposed to be helpful, and then i read how some people have used this combined with mastic gum.

I just want to avoid the antibiotics at all costs, but not take something with any scary side effects as well.

Anyone?

Thanks =)

Hi Foodie. I just read that DGL is often combined with Mastic. Both are natural products. DGL from licorice, mastic from berries from the Mediterranian mastic tree. Both heal the stomache and are good against the H. Pylori. You'll just have to experiment and see if it agrees with you or not.

For me, the straight licorice powder is a better alternative since often there is something in the tablets that does bother me. However I am extremely sensitive to so very many things. Maybe combine the licorice root and make a tea with it and peppermint and your chamomile. I also highly recommend marshmallow root etc. Taking food enzymes with your meals might be smart too. Just avoid HCL and ox bile. Apple cider vinegar or some lemon juice with your meals could be good however...

Good luck!

PS--the cave man diet might really help you if you are willing to take the plunge to just go off all grains and sugars for a while. It can make a huge difference. It certainly has for me! Its cheap and actually pretty easy.

      You already got some great recommendations. Just want to second that Mallorca (and Spain in general) is one of the best and easiest places for celiacs to travel. I have been to Mallorca multiple times and have never experienced any cross contaminations and there are SO many easy to buy options in regular supermarkets. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

      I agree.  If someone has Barrett's Esophagus, at least here in the UK, as I understand it under normal circumstances a PPI needs to be taken long term (or similar medication).  I have two friends with this.  The PPI it does have side effects but they still have to take it.
