Ok so Ive been doing really well with the whole gluten free diet thing and realizeing that this is me. I am totally cool with it. Then I find out I have a allergy to eggs. Ok kinda sucks but I can deal with that. But now I am allergic to tree nuts. Ok seriously this is crap. I have allergys 365 days a freeking year and now you want to add more food allergys to me on top of it! come on.

I went to one allergist and he doesnt want to do that desensatizeing thing( he gave me some reason but I dont remember ) Honestly if all this is connected to being a celiac ,what is the point of behaveing yourself? :(

Boy, do I understand your frustration! ...I never had any allergies till I became lactose intolerant in 2007, which if any one is you usually get c.d.. now I can't eat any shell fish, drink caffine coffee, or eat acidic foods and eat meat or fatty foods, for ex.greasy chips.which I miss, they had the best flavoring. I'm waiting to see if any other "food allergies" will pop up. I am so hoping NOT. It's not easy at all as I am sure you understand.

Gosh Im so sorry I understand how you feel too.

I am gluten sensitive but it wasn't until awhile being gluten free that I began to notice how much dairy bothers me too. My dairy sensitivity is tolerable, I mean dairy doesn't cause me the painful bright red cystic rash on my face and scalp that gluten does (its not pretty) but it does cause me a lot of unpleasant gas and bloating. So while I'll probably still eat a little bit of dairy here and there I've decided to avoid it which makes me sad. There goes even more favorite foods. :(

My theory is that maybe we were always allergic to these foods but the gluten intolerance was the worst so maybe we didn't notice the other symptoms while still on gluten? I'm not sure. I'm curious, how did it happen for you that you found out about these other sensitivities? Did you go gluten free, have good health for awhile, and then symptoms began returning and you figured it was something else? Or did you never find health the entire time and simply have to keep eliminating things?

*hugs* for you.. It sucks feeling like an alien in a world with nothing but poisonous food.

It sucks, that's for sure! I'm allergic to eggs, too, can't do soy or dairy. The soy I really don't care about, except that it's in EVERYTHING. Dairy and eggs is a bummer.

I've always been allergic to egg whites, but before celiac, I could eat anything else. There are times I get really frustrated because things that every one else takes for granted, I can't do. Like going to a restaurant and ordering an omelet, or anything without worrying for that matter!

HOWEVER, I do the best that I can to work around it. It is extremely frustrating at times, but I still consider myself to be fortunate that I know what my problems are, and I can control them very simply. I do think rare is the celiac whose sole problem is gluten.

Oh yeah!!! Wouldn't it be grand if it were ONLY gluten!! I think you are right.

There is a way to get around the problem with eggs. Eat duck eggs. I showed a sensitivity to egg white via blood test. It had a recommendation of eating duck eggs. I have had no problem with them. They are slightly richer then chicken eggs. They also are about $6.00 per dozen. So eat away and enjoy.

I completely understand your frustration. In less than one year, I've gone from eating anything that didn't eat me first, to eliminating gluten, dairy, apples, bananas, green beans, and now high-oxalate foods, including soy, in the hopes of resolving some irritating health issues.

You know what is high oxalate? CHOCOLATE. Dangit. I tried a mint-carob rice-based frozen dessert last night and got slammed with a horrible sinus headache--re-read the label and realized they'd sweetened the carob with barley malt. So that's out.

It's frustrating and honestly I dislike shopping at the stores now, it seems if i want a cracker it costs three times as much, ditto with any kind of ice cream. I'm very grateful for the coconut milk ice cream but because it's new, it's so expensive!

I agree with mysecretcurse, that we probably always had these sensitivities/allergies, but the problems with gluten were masking them. I know even though I had tested positive for bananas, apples and beans, that i was able to eat them with no apparent problems, until i'd been gluten free for many months.

I agree with all of you - I have been trying to stick to a gluten-free diet for the past 8 years or so, but have just spent the last few months with horrible crampy, urgent diarrhea! Am thinking a complete physical is in order with tests to see what else is causing my problems. Sometimes I get so tired of reading labels on packages and worrying about what's in a restaurant meal I get so frustrated I go to Macdonalds and pack away a 1/4 pounder and fries just to have a few moments of enjoyment!!! I know it's bad and that I will pay for it, but sometimes cheating doesn't bother me as much as something hidden in a meal that I will react to very shortly afterward. Think I need to check out the possibility of other allergens. On top of all that, I was stung by a wasp on the golf course a few years ago and had a severe anaphylactic reaction and am supposed to carry an epipen with me - had never been allergic to bee venom before. I am 57 years young and feel the life draining out of me sometimes and want to feel good even if it's for short periods of time......... Does anyone know of a good "quick" cleanse I can use to get me through whatever I'm having this severe reaction to right now???? Thanks for listening........

Wow! Are you sure it is the chocolate? I am still trying to figure this out. I have read that M&M's and Snickers are safe, but my DH tells me different. I wonder if the vanilla in these chocolate goodies are more the problem. While I don't have a gut reaction as I do with gluten foods, (plus many other symptoms), I do have the skin reaction. I am thinking that any amount of gluten, (as in distilled vinegar,it bugs me too) any trace that is considered safe, really isn't safe for any of us. And I wonder if the gluten comes first, then all the other probems and allergies. Anyway, you take away the vanilla and the distiled vinegar foods, plus the gluten foods...it really does suck!

you should try and find some one that does the bioset method (they will be an applied kinesiologist, kind of like chiropractor but its also some weird eastern medicine). these people can treat/reduce sensitivities and allergies, some times it takes a few times but there is no needles and no pain, ya its really weird but it works

i dont believe in any of the "modern medicine" allergy treatments because honestly they just cover it up and you have to keep getting treated where as this other system corrects the issues with in your body not covers them

If you're referring to my chocolate reference....I'm cutting chocolate out for a while because it is high in oxalates, which can contribute to some health issues. Not cutting it out because of gluten. :) I've never had a reaction to chocolate unless it had milk in it (though, thinking, maybe that Cadbury bar had gluten in it, the way my head started hurting immediately!).

Are you sure it's a gluten reaction? The dyes in the M & M's can cause skin rashes for some people. Do other foods with dyes bother you? I've never had DH from either of those foods.

honestly i personally dont believe that alcohol and vinegar messes with people due to the supposed gluten that is carried over (because i dont logically see how it can carry over, or even is there when gluten gets broken down in these strong fermentation processes and distillations) but more so because of an allergy to what it is made from

idk maybe im trying to split hairs that are not there but i think a lot of the extreme reactions some people around here have are not gluten issues but other allergies that give similar reactions or that increase the reactions from gluten

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
    • trents
You may also need to supplement with B12 as this vitamin is also involved in iron assimilation and is often deficient in long-term undiagnosed celiac disease.
