If....

you can button your pants in the morning, but they no longer fasten after breakfast

If....

"gas prices" makes you think of your grocery bill instead of your car tank ;)

You might be Celiac if:

There is a 10-fold chance of your kids saying: "She's in the bathroom" when someone calls...... (even though you drill it through their heads over and over again not to say that!!!! How embarrassing!) ;)

the pant buttoning thing is classic.

The family just doesnt understand why you buy your pants a size bigger and look like a clown in the morning.

LOL Karen about the bathroom...and imsohungry--both are really good--I like the one about gas prices :D

AmandasMommy-

Kinnikinnick is a brand that makes good gluten free donuts, breads, muffins, etc :D

Put that name in google. They have probably the best gluten-free products I have tasted!

Anyway, it will tell you how to order them when you visit their site! :D

Haven't seen this one yet...

You might be a Celiac if.... you wash your hands AT LEAST 100 times a day!

celiac3270 Collaborator

Yea...true. I did that even before diagnosis, though. I thought maybe my immune system was terrible, so I'd wash my hands all the time to try to avoid getting sick.

Guest Leidenschaft

Staying virus free is an excellent by product of this necessity! :D

For me, working with dogs all day, every day, I'm handling urine, feces, animal by-products (pig ears, cow parts etc.), and GLUTEN in the dog food!

I don't scratch my nose without first washing! My hands are red and raw up to my elbows!

Oh well, it beats the heck out of a lot of jobs! :D

celiac3270 Collaborator

Oh, right! :) Celiac or not, you'd definitely want to wash your hands a lot :D

Rikki Tikki Explorer

Pretty funny! :D

It will be quite a while before Katie and celiac3270 can run for president but in a few years they could at least run for the House of Representatives. :)

celiac3270 Collaborator

LOL... how old do you need to be to become a member of the house? Wouldn't it be hysterical if I actually ran for some political position someday? :P

ianm Apprentice

Stranger things have happened.

18 for the House, 30 for the Senate and 35 for president along with being a natural born citizen. You don't have to be a natural born citizen for the House and Senate but I don't remeber how many years you have to be a naturalized citizen before you can run. Those are the only restrictions so Celiacs can run for office. :)

LOL  . Wow...I knew it was 35 for President, but was unaware it was that young for the house!

hmmm....I turn 18 in about 2 months :D I was unaware I could be that young and be able to do that. I thought you had to be alot older

ianm Apprentice

That gives you a good 18 months to get your campaign going before the 2006 elections. :)

Yeah two words.....I WISH

you may be a celiac if:

when you go on vacation, you have two bags...one for your clothes and one for your food.

the one for your food is bigger.

seeing the words "gluten free" on a mainstream item has ever caused you to dance a jig in the middle of the canned food aisle in the grocery store.

and you are not in the least embarrassed by that.

you've ever listened to someone complaining about the awful stomach virus they had over the weekend and thought, "wuss".

celiac3270 Collaborator

True, true, and true  ...no jig, but a constrained jumping up and down session. :D:P:lol:

You might be a celiac if:

You can use your loaf of bread in place of weights when excersizing.

You are a regular at Outback, PF Changs and the local sushi restaurant.

The people at TCBY know you and immediately go get your topping from its original container in the back of the store.

You always have a packet of salad dressing/soy sauce in your bag at all times.

You bring your own sauce when you go out to eat.

Cold/flu or gluten poisoning? Hello. I've had another similar episode. I find it very difficult to differentiate between the symptoms of a cold or flu and those caused by gluten poisoning. In fact, I don't know if my current worsening is due to having eaten something that disagreed with me or if the cold I have has caused my body, which is hypersensitive, to produce symptoms similar to those of gluten poisoning.

I'm no longer dealing with constipation. I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.
