Excellent article, Lisa--thanks for posting it. I'm going to copy and send it to someone who needs to read it. :)

Scary stuff in there, Lisa. Basically, Peter Greene is saying that the doctors only know what the drug companies want them to know :o :o

Lisa, what a good find! Thanks for posting this. It is worth the read! And, another reason why the Celiac community is lucky to have Dr. Green! This quote was interesting: "About 75 percent of all patients now diagnosed at the Celiac Disease Center arrive not by physician referrals, but because patients learned about Green’s practice by searching the Internet or through a patient advocacy group. " and "And the only way that’s going to change is if patients take charge of their own care. If they suspect they have a problem with gluten, they need to go to their internist and say, ‘Is it possible I’ve got celiac disease? Why don’t you test me? Why don’t you refer me to somebody who treats this?’ "

Yes, I too. That's another reason why THIS forum is so important. It's so important to many of us that accurate information and research is available to those in need.

Here's a line that struck me:

Thanks Lisa! I'm printing the article off and giving a copy to my chiropractor (he wants to learn more about Celiac).

Thank you so much for posting this. I have book marked this and will share it with everyone I possibly can. Just curious as to whether it would be useful/prudent for many of us to forward our medical records to the good doctor in interest of increasing his data base for research purposes. Any thoughts on this?

Well, you could contact the Columbia Celiac Disease Center and inquire.

I don't know where you live but, the Celiac Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA is enrolling participants in a study to evaluate the type of symptoms that occur in celiac disease and to look at how living with Celiac Disease affects peoples lives.

You can contact them at:

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
