Hi friends and board members, Got very busy over past several months so I took a leave of absence from almost everything except my job....

My 88 yr old mother in law passed away in October (some of you knew the issues surrounding this for us and it was a sad event, but yet we knew she could not go on any longer as she was). In November I had to get involved in a potential lawsuit against my landlord and therefore, I moved and now I am still unpacking. I am exhausted from the move. My landlord, before I even had the attorney write a letter, realized he would lose the case, allowed me to break my lease and gave me very penny of my security deposit back just to stay out of court. We moved in January and grateful that the snow and ice stayed away until after our move. I have about a dozen boxes to unpack as yet but that's the easy part now.

I had a lot going on since October. It's finally settling down somewhat (although I have to have surgery on my fingers - the work for the move caused ganglion-type cysts on the first knuckles of several fingers - dr. tells me it's arthritis and the extra cleaning and packing probably was too much trauma on the joints). We now live near a very small grocery store which caterers to special diets only and they have a lot of gluten-free foods both mixes, ready made and frozen stuff. The store is called "Linda's Diet Delights" in Clark NJ. There were so many benefits to move here and I love my new apartment.

Hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to chatting again soon.

DM

I've been wondering how you were doing. So glad you were able to get out of that apartment. Hopefully life will be a little less stressful for you, now. That grocery store sounds awesome!

Hiya Deb! Welcome Back. Hope things settle down quickly and sorry to hear about your MIL.

I have about a dozen boxes to unpack as yet ...

Ummmmm . . . . . . me too, but I moved over 7 years ago . . . :P

Hi Deb! Glad things are returning to "normal". But, I'm never sure what normal is anymore.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
