Gluten Free In Southern New Jersey

Scott Burkee

Recommended Posts

Scott Burkee Newbie

I have been living with celiac for 7 years now, for that time frame I lived out in Utah, where I was able to find gluten free items at the local stores (Albertsons, Smiths, Walmart). I recently decided to take my hobby/baking of gluten free baked goods pro, so I moved to New Jersey to get formal education in baking/pastry. So here I am in the middle of southern New Jersey and getting very odd looks from store clerks and waitress when I ask for gluten free items.

So where does one get items out this way? I am near Atlantic City

Also is there any demand for a gluten free bakery out on the east coast? Cause I know there is demand back in Utah but rather not return out there for personal reasons.

We have a bakery in Cochrane Alberta called G.F. Patisserie and you should look them up. I know they were looking at expanding as a franchise. The baking is the best gluten free baking around. My non-gluten-free family loves their desserts! It you look up the Celiac Husband you can see what they can do. They are making wedding cakes now as well. Beautiful!

There is a gluten free bakery called Mr. Ritts in Millville, NJ...about 30-40 minutes from AC. There is also a wedding cake bakery called Lilly's (I think) that is in Bridgeton, NJ. Acme and Shoprite as well as Wholefoods and Wegman's all have gluten free items, but not really in bulk.

When I lived in SJ, I shopped at Whole Foods and Wegmans for my gluten-free items. Shoprite also had a decent gluten-free section but that may have changed.

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
