Lost My Temper

So you all know I'm having a reaction to that dry mustard. So I summon up the courage to go to the market on my way home from work (which I left early from, with permission) to get a bag of chicken breasts.

My pinky and ankle go "numb" when I have a reaction, I get tunnel vision, I swear sweat (turns out I do swear )

it's all I can do to hold myself together to go in that big store.

I'm coming out of one of the aisles and this foolish man boy dude thing came racing around the corner pulling a huge pallet thing behind him, hit my cart with it, hit me with his arm or something and I tumbled into the cookies that I can't freaking EAT!

Before I knew it, I go, "WTF is wrong with your stupid self?" He just kept going! :o I go "HEY! STUPID PERSON! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?" This old man goes, "son, you knocked this lady over, just nearly." Then he turns around, I guess cuz an elder MAN spoke to him.

I go, "Seriously, why why why would you act like that?" He don't say nothing, so I go "Whatever, you're a nasty effin' creep."

I do NOT act and talk and go off like that, so it musta been part of my reaction I don't know, but damn,

wanna know a secret?? it was fun

I'm thinkin of taking it up full time :D :D

You go Connie! I would have huffed up to the service desk and loudly demanded to speak to the manager. The store really doesn't want people like that working there. If you were hurt, they could be sued.

If it's any consolation, I have a bad temper too when glutened. I can be a bit of a bioch B)

You definately should have gone immediately to the manager. What if you had been an elderly woman with osteoporosis! There was no excuse for his not stopping and at least apologizing. He deserved all you gave him and then some!!!!!

I would have been mad too. There was no excuse for his behavior and not saying he was sorry and making sure you were alright. People just don't use their manners anymore and it is sad. I preach manners to my children. Here is something else to consider. While he may not have had any intention on appoligizing, he may not wanted any further confrontation with you after you started having words with him (I probably would have said something offstandish myself). I think people like this get away with this behavior because people don't report it.

It never occurred to me to tell the manager. We all know each other by name there. The guy was a soft drink vendor, he doesn't work for the store directly which is even worse I suppose. He's new, I haven't seen him before.

All I wanted to do was get back in my car and sit down, that's all I was thinking of. And that old man was givin' it to him pretty good.

I'll go up there tomorrow and tell them what happened. Now, typical me, I'm feeling sorry for the stupid guy... he's young, he's obviously got a new job, he was trying to hustle and do good.....but still, what he did was wrong on a lot of levels.

I once hit a man with my cart, on purpose! This was many years ago before I had a child. I was shopping alone. Going down an aisle and nearing the end when a man with a little boy came blasting around the corner, ramming his cart hard into mine and getting it shoved back into my legs. It hurt! He said nothing. Didn't even look at me and just kept on going. I was flabbergasted!

Not long after, I saw him standing by the dairy case. So I said not a word, just came up behind him and rammed in lightly but quickly in the back of his legs with my cart. Of course he screamed. Said something like, "So you think it's okay to hit a person with a little kid?" And then I replied, "Well, I guess you think it's okay to hit a person without a little kid!" Then I hightailed it to the checkout.

I think I've only been back to that store once since. I really hate it. There is not enough room in the aisles the way it is laid out. But that still didn't give him any excuse to ram me likt that.

When I was 8+ months preggo I was at Costco and this lady came tearing around the corner to get to a flippin' sample and she rammed right into my ginormous belly--and looked at me like "WTF, get outta my way" If I coulda moved faster, I woulda taken her arse DOWN!!!!

That's why pregnant women should travel with wingmen (women) - so when some crazy *itch like that acts up we can take them down for you. Or, you know, tail her out to her car and freakin CALL THE COPS FOR ASSAULT!!!! How can you do that to a pregnant woman?!?!?

I was 23 then. I've grown quite a pair since then! ;) There's no way I'd take that nowadays! I hate Costco anyways. I'm always in defense mode when I go there now--And NEVER on a Sunday after church--that's when all the crazies show up!!

What if we all went shopping together? That would be scary. We would wear matching gang shirts and push our carts next to each other taking up the whole aisle.

In the midst of all this venting, I want to share a good shopping experience.

I was at Costco, and some little boy raced out in front of me. I screeched my cart to a halt, waited for him to return to his parents, and kept going. A few minutes later I realized the boy and his dad were following me. When the finally caught up, the dad looked at his son, raised his eyebrow, and motioned to me. Very contritely, the boy came up and apologized for almost running into me. I told him it was alright, and thanked him for taking the time to come up and say something to me.

Sorta reaffirmed my belief in the human race, and all it was, was a dad taking the time to parent his child. :)

This reminded me of something my husband told me. He is a butcher for a local grocery and is the manager of the department. He is constantly having to throw away meat product because people, especially children, poke holes in the shrink wrap. This costs him money since he can not resell the item. This really makes him mad. On several occasions he has approached the kids/parents that he has caught doing this and gets no response, no boo, sh*t..nothing. One day he saw a kid poke a hole in a package of hamburger. The child's father picks up the package and brings it and the child over to my husband. He has the child appoligize and offers to pay for the meat. Hubby was so impressed that someone took the time to do the right thing that he said that it was not necessary to pay for it and thanked him for appoligizing. So, there is still hope yet!

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you...

I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
