Ice Cream

I am lactose intolerant. That being said, I take Lactaid caplets before eating ANY dairy. So Casein and lactose are not a problem as far as this goes. I checked Edy's website and clicked on the flavor finder where you can go in and specify what you are wanting. I clicked "gluten free" A seasonal flavor, Pumpkin came up. It said it was gluten free. I bought it and ate it. I got really sick. D for 3 days, typical celiac symptoms from it. Possibly it was CC from the lines. I threw the rest away and got Edy's vanilla. I ate some 2 days in a row and was fine. Is Edy's a trustable brand as far as CC goes?

What brands of ice cream do you eat. Do you just stick with vanilla, choc and strawberry to avoid CC? What about Bryers all natural vanilla?

I eat Eddys all the time based on what the ingredients are. Obviously, no cookie dough or Oreo. We really like the frozen yogurt Cappacino Chip.

I eat non-dairy icecream because I am Casein intolerant as well as Gluten intolerant. The brands "So Delicious (made from coconut milk)" and "Soy Delicous (obviously soy)" make some gluten free icecreams, they will say gluten free around the cap if they are. I also sometimes eat rice dream, good karma (rice based), and tempt (hemp milk). These will be labeled if they are gluten free.

I have eaten Edy's pumpkin ice cream many times without any problems....it's one of my favorites and I have never had a reaction to it before. I'm actually eating it right now :)

Granted, I'm not super-sensitive to cc, but maybe you had a reaction to something else in the ice cream?

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
