Well, I am pretty sick again this afternoon, and I can't figure out what in the world is causing this! I think the most frustrating thing is that I don't know for certain that it's even gluten that is making me sick.

But assuming it is, it likely would have been something I had for lunch since I got sick about an hour afterward:

gluten-free bread that I made from a mix and didn't seem to be a problem last night

Honey Baked turkey that I've been eating since last Friday and didn't make me sick before now

French's Mustard (website says it's gluten-free)

Some salt and pepper potato chips that are labeled gluten-free

Tea with honey

This would be easier if I knew for certain that it was gluten, because then it would just be a matter of figuring out what's causing it. But it makes me sad to think that gluten may not even be the problem.

Salt and pepper potato chips. Either cross contamination or you might have developed an intolerance to the potatos. Just a thought. Then again you could just be having a day where your insides are just not having a good day from not being totally healed yet. Then again you could be reacting to something in the gluten free bread. So, eliminate one thing at a time. Say, like when you finally start feeling better, just eat the chips for a week, then the gluten free bread for a week, so on so on. Just try to be patient and I feel for ya, I really do. Been there done that. I hate having to be a detective.

What type of tea? Some Tazo teas aren't gluten free.

I'm in the same place you are. I have certain days where I seem to react to gluten free foods and it makes me think it's secondary allergies or something seeping via "leaky gut". Two things on your list cause me to react from time-to-time. One is gluten-free bread. Some days I'm peachy with Udi's bread & other days I seem to have an issue. Some tea seems to upset my stomach even if it's gluten-free. Tea is a plant so maybe you're having an allergic reaction?? You didn't say what kind of tea.

One really weird thing that tears up my stomach now is cooked onions (???) There is just no rhyme & reason and I am suspicious that if I've upset my stomach slightly with a food it doesn't really like -- like the previous 24 hours -- and then I add gluten-free bread on it (harder to digest) my body goes into a meltdown. Many days I tolerate Udi's bread just dandy. It's so odd.

Hope you figure it out. It's pretty frustrating isn't it?

Have you been tested for fructose malabsorption and/or SIBO? If you are FM then the honey would be giving you trouble. If you have SIBO everything gives you trouble.

I've had the same issues..One day the gluten free bread is ok with my guts, the next you would think i ate a barley, wheat and rye sandwich lol..One thing i have found that helped when i first got diagnosed and went gluten free was limiting my diet to nothing but natural..my doc said, to quote " If you cant kill it with a knife or pick it off a tree dont eat it".. very hard to do but helped me ! Even now i feel better when i eat that way, but itss hard when u are at work or traveling! Good Luck :)..also, u may want to have a allergy profile ran, just a blood test 4 the basics,,wheat, corn, soy, lactose etc...

And for me, it takes about 2 1/2 days for problems to start. That makes it harder to pin down the source of the problem.

Thanks so much for all the replies! I still feel pretty sick today. BLAH.

The tea was just plain ol' Lipton. We drink a lot of iced tea in TN. I've eaten the chips before and didn't get sick. But that was the first time I've made the bread.

I really appreciate all the help. You guys are Super Sleuths. Now if you could just use your Super Powers to make me feel better, I'd appreciate it. :)

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
