Lunch Meat- Roast Beef?

Does anyone know for sure of a gluten free roast beef lunchmeat???? Every one I looked at at the store yesterday had questionable ingredients like broths, etc... Are there any out there??!!

Kraft is good at labeling ingredients in their products as is con agra and hormel. There might be others too. I believe all Boar's head is gluten-free but the slicers at some stores may be CC by other products. I have found pre-packaged applegate (we buy the turkey) at whole foods. The best thing to do is look on the company's websites, usually in the FAQ section.

Hormel Naturals line has a roast beef. I eat it all the time. It is labeled gluten free on the back. It is with the other packaged lunch meats at the store and it comes in a zip lock type bag in a brown box. It's easy to find

Boar's Head. All of their products are gluten free and SO good. Minimally processed and preserved. A little expensive but definitely worth it.

General Mills and Unilever also explicitly label any gluten source.

Con Agra, General Mills, Kraft and Unilever own many brands that you might not immediately associate with them. But somewhere on the package you should find the ultimate owner.

A few brands they own that come to mind: VH, Lipton, Knorr, Bovril, Oscar Mayer, Green Giant, Cadbury, Nabisco, Jacobs, Planters, Maxwell House, Philadelphia, Becel, Hellmann's, Imperial, Wish-Bone, and Ragu. There are many more.

Back to the original question. If the broth contains wheat, then as a top allergen it must be explicitly identified in both Canada and the United States. I can't imagine why rye or oats would be in broth. Even barley doesn't make sense to me.

This really shocked me. I am so glad really that we don't get all of the info about what we can't eat upfront, because it's just too overwhelming. But I'm so glad to know this. I asked the deli guy if he could clean the blade and he was glad to, but then I saw how much trouble it was and just asked if I could buy the entire thing of meat that was still wrapped. He said sure. It was expensive, but not as expensive overall as the Applegate products. Glad to know about Boar's Head. I love this site.

I found some Oscar Mayer Carving Board roast beef that is gluten free and very good!!! It's in the regular lunch meat section and you don't have to fool with the deli slicer.

Boar's Head--gluten-free and good. Ask the deli person to wipe the blade before cutting yours. Just a thought!
