Eyelid Twitching

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I know I had to get glutened somewhere last Thursday.

After feeling terrible on Friday, my left eyelid started twitching. It's been 5 days and it's still twitching. Not my entire eye (socket area,) but just my eyelid. And only the left one.

It's driving me crazy.

Anyone else have a symptom like this?

Not necessarily from glutening, but it was something I developed just before gluten-free, and couldn't shake.

It went away, oddly enough, when I got glutened (or thought I got glutened).

The other weird muscle thing I had was a permanent cramp in my left calf. It went away when I got horribly sick during the hypoglycemia stage.

Weird - I get sick with something new and an old symptom goes away. I'm weird weird weird.

Of course, I get NEW ones...

So, all I can say is if you got a twitch with glutening then it will probably go away in time. Try to rest your eyes, that helped me - to rub the area around my eye gently or apply pressure.

It could be from gluten (anything's possible), but it could also be stress. Mine twitched for months during a stressful period in my life...no glutening.

Happens to me all the time when I'm stressed. The last week has been near constant annoying twitching. It's possible of you thought you were glutened and were stressing out about it that the stress is the culprit. My doctor and eye doctor both agree that it is completely harmless no matter how obnoxious.

I also suffered from eye twitching (only the left eye, which is wierd, because I can't wink that eye) intermittently during periods of stress for years before going gluten-free. I haven't had one eye twitch since going gluten-free (yet). Do you have other neurological symptoms from glutening?
