Does brown rice bother anybody else? I had some tilapia, brown rice, and green beans last night and my chest and belly were on fire.

I can't eat brown rice anymore either. I used to when I first went gluten free but now it goes right through me. I have no idea why. I remember reading a few weeks back about brown rice having arsenic or some other poison in it, but I can't remember. I just took note that that might be the problem, but I doubt it in my case. There are a TON of things that never used to bother me but do now. And most of it doesn't make any sense to me.

Are you sure it was the rice ?

We always rinse off fish, chicken, and meat before cooking it. The local grocery sells their tilapia in the unfrozen display case both plain and breaded ready-to-cook, right next to each other, <_< so I don't get that stuff anymore and instead use the frozen packaged kind.

It could have been the fish. My grandmother had made some for me previously and I was fine. Second time it has happened when I cooked it.

Haven't eaten it since I've went gluten-free. Though I did buy some which was certified completely gluten-free, so when I cook it I guess I'll find out

I'm not a big rice person anyhow.

My worst food intolerance is to brown rice. It gives me severe stomach pain two days after eating it, and pain lasts for almost a week. Also causes major C. I can eat white rice every once in awhile, but I don't think it gets digested very well.

I suggest trying it one more time to see. This is a tough intolerance to have since most gluten-free processed food contains it (bread, pizza crust, pasta, crackers, cereal, etc)

Now that this is posted.... I bet that brown rice has been a problem for me, by making me feel lousy... I get cramped and have pains, sometimes severe in my stomach for a few days... I didn't associate it from brown rice.. I just read online about ground growing foods and groundwater containing arsenic and selenium... It says brown rice consumed twice a month may be ok.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
