I e-mailed both these make up companies in hopes that they had make up i can wear....neutrogena typed this:

Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies fully comply with all regulations on ingredients in the countries in which our products are sold. Wherever regulatory authorities have set limits on certain ingredients, our product formulations either meet those limits or contain a lesser amount of the regulated ingredient. We are committed to maintaining the high standards of quality and safety that have been our hallmark for generations of consumers.

Although Gluten was not added to these products, we cannot guarantee that cross contamination with Gluten did not occur in the manufacturing process. In addition, some of the ingredients in the product may have been purchased by us from outside distributors and we cannot say with absolute certainty that cross contamination did not occur at their facilities. We recommend that you speak with your treating physician if you are concerned that with your self particular sensitivity, the product's listed ingredients may trigger an allergic reaction.

Also the Oil Free Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin does contain gluten. We hope this information will be helpful to you.

Boy am I glad that I stopped using that moisturizer and switched to cetaphil...i hope that one really is gluten free.....

I've heard a lot of you say neutrogena seemed to be okay though so i'm confused....i'm at a complete loss about make up. And I don't want to use mineral make up which the majority of you seem to use so i'm confused *sighs*

Here is the response from smashbox regarding some products i was considering...

Thank you for taking the time to contact Smashbox, a brand of the Estee Lauder Companies.

For the benefit of our gluten-sensitive consumers who may have cross-sensitivities, Smashbox takes the extra precaution of including soy, corn and rice in our research in addition to wheat, oat, barley and rye derivatives.

In addressing your concern about gluten, we would like to explain that a vast number of raw materials from many different suppliers and sources are used in the manufacture of Estee Lauder Companies' products. It is therefore not possible for us to fully guarantee that our products are completely free of ingredients that may elicit an allergic response in highly sensitive individuals who react to gluten. For example, it is possible that small amounts of a wheat sourced ingredient may remain on shared manufacturing equipment even after a thorough cleaning. We therefore recommend that you discuss this with your physician, because consumer safety is of utmost concern to us.

Below are the results of your gluten ingredient inquiry:

Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation SPF 10 - contains ingredients derived from Soy and Corn

High Definition Healthy FX Foundation - contains ingredients derived from Soy and Corn

Be Legendary - contains Wheat bran, Soy and Corn derived ingredients

Limitless Waterproof Liquid Liner Pen - alcohol may be derived from various grains

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact Smashbox. I sincerely hope I was able to be of assistance. Please know that your satisfaction and business is very important to us. We hope you will continue to look to Smashbox for your essential beauty needs.

Sincerely,

Gloria Chang

Neutrogena Naturals skin care is gluten-free.

I read that e.l.f. Is gluten-free ingredients but the equipment may be cc'd. Supposedly available at Target.

I use lots of mineral makeup so it's easier but I struggle with sourcing all of it online.

I think Cetaphil states their gluten-free status online.

Do you know if neutrogena Naturals contains soy by chance?

I don't have the box for the moisturizer anymore, but check the website. The box has ingredients in plain language on it.

It's kind of like labels for dummies?? They tell you the ingredients and source, if I remember.

It's such a cop out it tells me NOTHING lol It's dumb!

They tell you more than most. And they do say gluten-free on the website. You'll have to ask about the soy - but last I checked soy was a legume.

You'd be surprised how people have mixed that up before honestly. But they really SHOULD be more specific...let's say someone was allergic to corn..would be nice if they could know that you know? Stuff like that..

Actually, I wouldn't...since half the population can't correctly identify produce at the grocery store.

They are better than most mainstream cosmetics companies on this brand. Origins is very good at using "regular" names on labels.

Beans and peas are also legumes, but people call them vegetables :P I bet people would find it weird to find out there were legumes in their cosmetics if that was the way they referred to soy..:D

Have you looked at the Kiss My Face line for moisturizers? This one says gluten free and I don't see soy listed unless it is hidden in one of those other words!

According to the Neutrogena website, their entire Naturals line is gluten free.

For make up, NARS (you can find it at Sephora) is gluten free. They have a statement on their website that their entire line is (wheat) gluten free, but I think one or two of their products, it says, contain corn gluten.

I talked to a make up company I found that i used for stage makeup and what not. They also have HD makeup. Well they said their products contain no gluten or soy and that there is no need to a high quality company to contain those ingredients. When I asked about cross contamination they said "They guys might eat a sandwich in the break room

What company is that, Wendybird? :)

I tried e-mailing neutrogena again about soy and got word for word the same response i got before about gluten. They totally ignored my soy inquiry. And stated in the e-mail they couldn't guarantee it wasn't gluten free.

I just checked the ingredient list for Neutrogena's Oil-Free Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin. Can anyone tell me what the gluten-containing ingredient is? I've been using this product because it looked OK. (I'm a silent celiac so don't show obvious symptoms).

Water, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Petrolatum, Cyclomethicone, Soybean (Glycine Soja) Sterols, Isopropyl Isostearate, Cetyl Alcohol, PEG, 10 Soy Sterol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Carbomer, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Diazolidinyl Urea, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, why can't companies use plain english for allergens!

I'm not sure what it is but I was definitely told it contains soy as well. So it's definitely out for me *sighs*

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!
    • trents
Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
