Rudi's Slider Rolls

Celiac Julie

Celiac Julie Rookie

I was just wondering if anyone else is having problems with Rudi's products. The only thing I've tried so far is the slider rolls for burgers and I got violently ill. I thought maybe it was from something else I ate since they say they're gluten free so I tried them again last night, turkey sandwich! VIOLENTLY ILL!! It's a bummer because they're delicious but I can only narrow my sickness down to them. Thank you for any feed back.

Probably because they are not gluten free?

"Potato Slider Rolls

These whole grain rolls blend a smooth texture, a delicious potato taste, and a hint of cane sugar sweetness to provide the rich flavor needed to complement sliders and small sandwiches.

Made with stuff you can pronounce and ingredients you recognize

Organic wheat flour, water, organic evaporated cane juice, organic potato flour, organic high oleic sunflower/safflower oil, yeast, organic wheat gluten, sea salt, organic vinegar, organic oat flour, cultured organic wheat starch, organic whole wheat flour, ascorbic acid, natural enzymes."

I only have the bread, that's all I can get here, and I've never had a problem. I know that they do have wheat products as well, could that be what you got? The link is for the gluten free side, and I don't see 'slider rolls.' Just multigrain hamburger buns.

This is the organic side, with the listing of 'potato slider rolls.' Is that what you have? I so hope not!

I was confused at first by Rudi's because for some reason, probably because theirs were the first products I had heard about on this forum that I was able to find in a local store. I thought EVERYTHING they made was gluten-free. I did not know that they were first a regular bakery. I was in the store looking for breads and picked up a package of Rudi's "whole grain" bread expecting to see things like rice, quinoa and sorghum. I was so surprised to see "whole wheat"!

Label reading is definitely important even on things we buy regularly.

It's important to note they have two separate processing locations, so there's no chance of cross-contamination, whatsoever.

So, OP, maybe you did get a wheat product?

Hello, Maggie here from Rudi's Gluten-Free Bakery. We do not make gluten-free sliders. The closest thing to sliders we make are Rudi's Gluten-Free Multigrain Hamburger Buns. Our gluten-free products clearly state Gluten-Free on the packaging and our gluten-free breads are sold in the freezer.

Rudi's Gluten-Free is an extension of Rudi's Organic Bakery which does bake products containing gluten, including potato slider rolls. It sounds like this might be the issue. Rudi's Organic products state 'contains wheat' under the ingredient list and are found in the bakery section.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks - Maggie, Rudi's Gluten-Free Bakery info@rudisbakery.com

How cool is that? Someone has a question about a product and instead of having to call the company, all they have to do is click on this, the world's best forum!

I have a question for you Maggie. Is there ANY possibility that someone like the fine company you work for might someday make a bread with no gluten, no soy, no potato starch, and especially no corn or xanthan gum? I am intolerant to all of the above and I miss bread so much!

Either way, thanks for responding to the OP in this, and for caring enough about your customers to have joined our forum. :)

Yes, Rudi's makes regular wheat containing products in addition to gluten free products...I almost caught myself purchasing the wheat product at one time. I love Rudi's products...am waiting for the day when/if they produce a gluten free English Muffin. Love their cinnamon/raisin bread.

I feel like a total idiot now! I can't wait to get home and see if these Rudi buns are in fact NOT gluten free. They were right next to the gluten free Rudi's bread so maybe I just A.S.S.umed they were also gluten free! DUH! I can't belive this! ARGH!!!!

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
