Has anyone ever experienced eye floaters as a reaction to gluten?

There was a thread a while back on this, sorry I can't seem to link to it from my phone. Definitely people with advice.

Can be a warning for retinal detachment among other things.

I've got them. I don't think it has anything to do with Celiac in particular. "Floaters" are bits of detached tissue floating around in your eye. If they suddenly show up, or get worse, you should see a doctor/optometrist as soon as you can, since it could be a sign of something more serious like a detached retina.

I might notice them more when I've been glutened, but then again my vision is generally less focused when I've been glutened.

It is also linked to uveitis (sp?) which can be potentially serious. Definitely a good idea to get it checked if you noticed a change.

My eye exam a couple weeks ago, my eyes has actually gotten better for the first time since I was a kid. That's not floaters though. I've had floaters for as long as I can remember, same place, same shape.

I've got them. I don't think it has anything to do with Celiac in particular.

My opthalmologist (of many years) never connected gluten to my floaters either.

I have a ton of eye floaters and issues with my eyes. I don't know what could cause it really but I have read other people on this forum say they have floaters and I have suspicions and it is my opinion that celiac maybe able to cause it. It is an autoimmune disease and effects every person differently. Gluten causes the autoimmune response. Now that I have been gluten and dairy free, I can count on one hand how many floaters I have had. Before I would see them several times a day. It is only my opinion and I am no doctor, but I feel there is a connection.

If followed by headache, they could also be migraine auras.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
