  1. Sorry, but I'm not brilliant with computers. Is it possible to ask a question to a specific couple of people? (Jerseyangel(Patti) and MommaGoose (Lisa)? I wanted to ask about a couple of specific products and I know their sensitivities are similar to mine. Thank you! lisa
  2. Hi everyone. Supersensitives in particular, a sunscreen or two that are okay? I've forgotten and can't find it on here! Also, anyone know of a dedicated facility corn flake? No soy either, please? Thank you! lisa
  3. Fage Greek yogurt is gluten-free. I'm ridiculously sensitive and have been eating it daily for 2 years. Good luck, lisa
  4. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you- I've had issues with ground beef to the point I do not use it and am thinking of getting a meat grinder. I wonder if they grind sausage or other things containing gluten on these grinders because it strikes me that would be very difficult to clean. Just a thought... lisa
  5. Hi, Yes, I think it's cc, too. I am HIGHLY sensitive and I have no issues with Planter's brand "Nutrition" nuts (not roasted) My favorite is the South Beach diet mix (I'm not on a diet- just yummy mix-cashews, almonds and macadamias) I've eaten this brand for 2 years and no issues and, believe me, if there were ANY gluten, I'd know. Good luck, lisa
  6. Oh yes. My spousal equivalent is primarily gluten-free because I am SO sensitive. If he eats "Big" gluten (bread, cookies, cake...) he brushes, flosses and rinses and then does it again and it still makes me nervous as there is no question I've been glutened this way in the past. lisa
  7. HelpinOhio, Not to be too nitpicky, but Lyme is difficult to diagnose and can mimic many other things, notably lupus among them. The ONLY lab in the country that is considered accurate (according to many, many I know who took YEARS to be accurately diagnosed with Lyme) is a lab called "IgeneX" lab- it's in California. I am currently in the process of getting...
  8. More often than I'd like-probably once or twice every two months. Often I cannot trace the culprit but I think it might be linked to the rare occasions my spousal equivalent eats gluten.(He usually doesn't) He is incredibly careful, brushes and flosses afterward, but I think that cakes or cookies or bread is difficult to free yourself of somehow. To speak...
  9. Yes, yes yes- a glutening is always worse around that time of the month and I think symptoms can mimic some celiac symptoms although to a much lesser degree for me. lisa
  10. Some may be lucky and not find this so, but I cannot stress enough the importance of eating plain, whole foods you cook yourself- it's really not that hard! Trying to recreate your old diet with all the substitutes I found had little to no success particularly in the beginning, so you might want to forego the pizza and new grains for a bit. Here's what I...
  11. Welcome. At least you are beginning the journey to health. Remember it can be a long and wily journey and other intolerances may rear their ugly heads, but, hopefully, feeling better is in your future. Keep a detailed food log with symptoms; it is invaluable. Mine is 4 years old now and it has been most helpful. It only took 35 years for me to be diagnosed...
  12. Good points all. Whatever works, however, to get the point across I shall employ...charades, hand puppets... Thank you! lisa.
  13. I'd suspect all the soy-many people react to soy in a similar way to gluten. Maybe you should try rice milk or no "milk" for awhile. It is a LONG road with huge learning curves! I am working on 5 years in and it took at least 2 years to "get all the bugs out". At first, however, while healing I was gluten, soy, corn, legume, nightshade, egg and dairy free...
  14. digestive "TRACT"- I'm tired!
  15. Maroon or black stools can mean the bleeding is happening further up in your digestive track and deserves being investigated. Sometimes this blood can be described as looking like coffee grounds. lisa
  16. Hi again, It IS inconvenient but you get used to it and for me there is no price to feeling well and to NOT having a gluten reaction which, besides all the pain and lovely GI symptoms, makes it difficult for me to breathe and can last for DAYS! I eat Planter's nuts for snacks (no CC noticed at all), Larabars, grapes, bananas, watermelon in season, fried...
  17. Sylviaan, I'm late to this thread and, to quote Patti, JerseyAngel, am a "super-duper sensitive". Yes, yes, yes! to all those companies you mentioned re: CC, particularly Bob's and Amy's, although unless it is a completely dedicated company, with ALL of them! I, too, eat only what I cook from scratch with a very FEW items I know are okay. (Tinkyada, Fage...
  18. I, too, use extra-strength bufferin in the RARE times I take anything. (not a fan of medications) I believe Advil is fine, too, and I used it last year during a bout of a painful dance injury.-no problems and I am a "super-sensitive"! lisa
  19. Thanks, One More Mile, I've used that for years and had good luck. Unfortunately, I've been bleeding heavily for over three weeks(this kind of thing has been going on for awhile.) and my doctor needs me to stop losing so much blood so I need to take it orally. I'm going to have to try it and take my chances, I guess. Thanks for your post, lisa
  20. Hello everyone and Super-sensitives in particular, Would anyone know if "Prometrium" (oral progesterone- 100 mg) is gluten-free? The PDR's list SEEMS okay, but, who knows? Thanks! lisa
  21. I am so sorry for your loss- it is always beyond excruciating. I have a personal experience with suicide that took years of therapy for me to understand and I, too, have worked 8 years as a special education teacher in a self-contained program for students with emotional disabilities. In that time I have learned the hard lesson that you CANNOT save anyone...
  22. I don't think anyone in this post has been alarmist or over-excited. I also don't think the media I listen to is (PBS) I think it's prudent to pay attention to the recommendations of the CDC and am thankful that the media keeps us informed. Again, read the book, considered definitive on 1918. People here asked questions and people gave answers. No one...
  23. Read up on flu. And be smart. Read The Great Influenza (John Barry). And be smart and informed. It is not a matter of "if" ; it is a matter of "when" and it would pay to stay well-informed. Anyone who can say "it's just the flu" may not be very well-informed about the history of flus and what medical experts predict for future. We are overdue for a thinning...
  24. "susceptible"- there, that's a word.
