  1. Hi. I am almost a year in and still have good days and bad days. I am gluten, corn, soy, legume and (MOSTLY) dairy-free (cheese sometimes). I recommend Elaine Gottschall's SCD diet very much. Look up her book BREAKING THE VICIOUS CYCLE and you should find info there. I would recommend trying at least a modified SCD or a Paleo diet for a bit while you...
  2. Hi, Everyone- I AM having deep dental work done for first time on Wed. (two fillings that were old and are leaking) and I really need novocaine- should I ask them to skip the pre-novocaine proceedure? Thank you anyone. lisa
  3. Hi. Before going gluten-free I had that lower left pain so badly I could not turn over in bed and I could NEVER lie on my left side. Now I seem to get it when glutened and MAYBE with nuts or too many raw veggies or fruits. It radiates into my left hip as well. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I also have a fibroid tumor so I've had the ultrasounds...
  4. Paula, Congratulations to you! It's great you are seeing such a huge change. I am about one year in and, although it still is up and down for me, I feel so much better, too. I have had to be gluten, soy, corn, legume and mostly dairy-free, though. I hope you continue feeling better! lisa
  5. I never have Amy's anymore as well. Actually, nothing beats cooking whole foods yourself! lisa
  6. Amy's tomato pasta sauces are the suspect for me- too scared to try them again. lisa
  7. If lobster is simply boiled (as it should be) for 18 minutes (as it should be) it should be fine. Sorry I can't help with the restaurants, though. My husband was a lobsterman, my brother is a lobsterman and now my son is a lobsterman- eating boiled lobster is just fine! Good luck! lisa
  8. Yes! C!!! Gluten makes me feel like someone poured extra strength glue into my digestive tract and it is completely seized! No good tricks for fixing it although I agree lots of water, also hot water, can help. It hurts so much! I've always had this but I do wonder if abusing laxatives when I was anorexic at 17 exacerbated the issue... I NEVER use laxatives...
  9. Hi. I, too, get sharp often excruciating pain in my left hip and lower back (also joint pain) when glutened. Besides all the neat GI symptoms... I am double DQ1, subtypes 5 and 6... Tra la. Hope you feel better! lisa
  10. Almost paleo (with alittle rice) is helping me, too. Congratulations! I hope you continue to feel better. lisa
  11. Thank you both! lisa
  12. Oh, yes and Enterolab says I have two genes for "gluten intolerance"- both DQ 1s. So, tra la... lisa
  13. Joanne, If you're still reading this I have positive tTg and negative endoscopy both after being gluten-lite for 4 months. GI said I'm fine- IBS. I didn't listen after 25 years of that diagnosis. Went gluten-free and dietary response was pretty amazing- I'd been suffering with over 28 significant pretty wretched symptoms, one being lavish pain- they...
  14. Hi All, Could any who know offer some brands of shelled nuts that are guaranteed gluten and soy free? I currently shell all my own nuts, but am looking for some occassional quick ones. Specifically, I eat almonds, pecans, hazelnuts (or "filberts") and look for some roasted cashews as well. Thanks ahead of time for any thoughts. I also don't eat corn...
  15. Okay, once again I screwed up my reply and it's mixed in- sorry! Hopefully you can sort it out. lisa
  16. Do you all have a particular flax seed meal you use? I've wanted to try flax, too. lisa
  17. Wow, lots of info on this site while our power was out! Thank you all. I've never been tested for soy, I've just known all my life that I get an upset GI tract with it and of course now with the whole gluten intolerance thing just about ANYTHING can upset my intestines! FUN! However, I am going to get brave and do a little "Lecithin Test". I'll let...
  18. Thank you Nancy and Carla, too. I've had three GREAT days (not eating a lot, but, hey...) so I'm reluctant to stick something new in- but we're on vacation from High school, so this is the week to do it, eh? Thanks! lisa
  19. Okay, something wacky just happened. I apologize; hopefully it can be deciphered. lisa
  20. Hello, Fellow Food Issue People- Could I hear from those of you who are soy-free in regard to soy lecithin and whether it gives the same dismal symptoms as soy? I think I read somewhere that lecithin can be tolerated. Here's why I ask: I would just like to try a little bite of some Hershey's chocolate but it has soy in it. OR, if you have a favorite...
  21. Thank you for that tip, JNBunnie! I'm on my way to my local health food store now. And, yes, I am PARANOID about "pissing off" my system; it seems to be angry a lot! Thank you everyone! lisa
  22. Thank you all very much! I will try to find a coconut milk recipe and try Helena's brands. That is, if my body doesn't rebel. Thanks! lisa
  23. To clarify: Gluten, soy, corn, legume and dairy FREE and nightshade-lite. In case that wasn't clear. lisa
