  1. Hey guys I was giving some recipies that call for Easy cooking pasta (spaetzle) mix. I have not heard of this, so am thinking that it may be American. Anyway I would just like to know if any of you guys know what it is and if we get here in oz?
  2. Hi! I know this is the travel forum, but you may want to go into the international room and post in some of the Aussie threads, there may actauly be some people from Melbourne there. As far as genral places go, Muffin break do a gluten free muffin, The coffee club have a chocolate biscuit. these places can be found in shopping centres. Also many of...

    ARCHIVED Snacks

Hey. Cheetos In Australia are not gluten free and neither are m&ms. Chesse celerey and rice crackers make a good snack or try Popcorn It is proably more of a lucnh thing but I like this as a snack. Put some chesse, ham, tomato or whatever you like on some bread and put in the oven kinda like an open grill. I think the doing it the oven makes...
  6. Hey guys. I tend disagree slightly with what some of you have said about their being very few products available esp. If you live in a larger place! 13 years ago there were literally 3 types of sweet biscuits you could buy: Jam drops, some kind that had chocolate on them and the rice cookies. Freedom foods now has more than that just in their biscuit...
  7. Hey In my experience Gloria Jeans are not gluten-free food friendly. The ones in where I live don't seem to offer any cake/ biscuit of any kind! I can't help you with whats in their drinks though. I don't know if there is one near your work but I can get gluten-free free open grill type sandwiches from Jamacia Blue, they also seem to have at least...
  8. The dietician: I would like you to gain some weight: Me: ok Dietician: Of course some people with celiac find it very hard to gain weight and if you are cheating (wich I was at the time) it can be made harder. What the? In one sentence I'm getting told to gain wieght the next I'm told why I probably can't After explaining that I can't have flour...
  9. Hey guys. I have always had trouble going to sleep, however in the last 18 months it has got better. I can be really tired and go to be bed a lie there for two hours however once I get to sleep I will usually stay asleep. I had alway put this down to just being the way my body worked. I was diagnosed when I was 6 (am now 19) Between the ages of ...
  10. Yea. Thats about 10.00 Aussie dollars. It cost me $15.00 but they are really nice.
  11. Why does the line have to be drawn? Why don't people have a bit of consideration for us with food intolerances? It is not going to cost any extra for their running costs if they don't have to feed us? A tick in the appropriate box should fix that. Sorry Saz, I'm not having a go at you, but it just annoys me that we are brushed under the carpet, and if...
  12. Hi. I'm an Aussie but thought I'd share this little discovery. Gluten free ice cream cones! I got some tonight. Anway on the packet it says that they are imported from the UK. The Barkat if anyone is interested.
  13. WHOOOO! I made the best discovery in the history of the universe tonight!!!!! Gluten Free Ice cream cones that taste good!! The company is called Barkat. It is imported by Summerland Products and services. I got it from a health food shop. The guy said that he got them at a gluten-free expo he went to in Melbourne. This company also make cereals...
  14. I agree that it can be anoying to pay for things that you can't eat, but I guess the line has to be drawn, if they do it for one then they have to do it for all.
  15. Warning about Macaday maccadamia nut bars, some have a gluten free sticker on them, however the Rocky road and a another type( i cant remember wich one) both say contains wheat products in the ingredients list. I wish the company would learn.

  17. I've got msn. I am 19 and live In Australia. Please Pm me if anyone would like my address!
  18. Hey. Im not sure where I should put this, so if its wrong I'm sorry. Anyway I thought it might be different if we listed the foods that we all love and can eat( Instead of talking about what we can't). It doesn't need to be one of the specially created foods that you find in the Health section, just whatever you like and is U friendly. ...
  19. So glad to hear I'm not the only one who cheats. I've never had that much all at once but until recentely it wouldn't be uncommon for me to have 3-4 sandwiches/ burgers a week. I don't usually get ill as long as I space it out but have been feeling major guilt. Had a resonably good week this week tho, the only major thing I had was one piece of bread. Big...
  20. The chocolate pudding story is awful! Even if you make it from scratch most recipies generally call for milk! Then there the issue that puddings/ cakes contain flour! It is like the major dry ingredient!
  21. When I go to Maccas or Hungry Jacks I ask for it a burger without the bun, most of the servers do kinda look at u funny but are generally good. Except for tonight. I ordered a quarter punder and asked for it with the bun because i am allergic and could they put the filling in the container. The chic then goes to me: So you just want meat? I then camly explained...
  22. Try a gourmet a market, I saw shells in my local one the other day. I applaud you, most places seem to think that the only two gluten free cakes on the planet are orange and almond and the Jaffa one!
  23. WHHHHHHOOOOOO! I'm so happy I found this section, I only found these forums a few days ago and here I was thinking I was the only Aussie, but wouldn't ya know there are even some Queenslanders on here.! I've been finding it a bit of a struggle at the moment, I am not very sensitive and have to eat a fair bit to get any symptoms, so for the last...
  24. As I'm not super sensitive I don't worry if it says it has been prepared on the same line. I have on occasion put things back that say May contain traces of wheat but again not an enormous issue for me.
  25. Well I feel like the biggest twit in the world right now, I never thought about wheat grass having wheat in it, but its something that I've never had the desire to try.
