ARCHIVED Dare I Ask - Could Dairy Be A Problem Too?
tracey* replied to Deb O (UK)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm pretty much zonked most of the day and I'm 5 months in. I think it will take a bit longer, and also a balance of vitamins and getting enough rest and exercise. It's not easy, but I've had glimmers of energy for a full day now and then and it's a good incentive to keep going I have a problem with dairy too, much longer than I've problems with wheat... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free, Soy Free Soy Sauce?
tracey* replied to BeckyW's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Is Tamari soy free? I know you can get wheat-free Tamari, but I'm not sure if it's totally soy free too -
ARCHIVED White Sauce In Chinese Restaurants
tracey* replied to BostonCeliac's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
When my mum makes dinner (we're asian), she used to use cornflour in the sauces - brown, white, tomato, soy, whatever. The last time she used corn flour, I was SICK (pretty much straight away, and lasted for a few hours). The last time she cooked and left it out, I was perfectly fine. In my case, it definately made me feel bad so I'm avoiding it from... -
ARCHIVED Teeth And Gums
tracey* replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My teeth are not so bad, but after I was glutened a few weeks ago I had about 5-6 ulcers and my tongue swelled up I do get bloody gums now and then but it goes away after a while -
ARCHIVED A Shout Out For Triumph Dining Cards
tracey* replied to elonwy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Mango, I'm considering designing my own ones and posting them on my blog - I'll let you know if I do ones for other allergies/intolerances - cause I definately need one for yeast! -
ARCHIVED A Shout Out For Triumph Dining Cards
tracey* replied to elonwy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Are there any references to US food terms on the cards? I think we call a few things differently in Australia (like cilantro, what is that again? lol) and I don't want to have to decipher things like that Otherwise, I'm going to order them asap! -
You know, I've never been to Outback before .. there's one near my parents house but it looks so quiet all the time (no cars in the lot) - I might have to pop in! I never knew they had a gluten free menu in Australia too

I live in Sydney, but I'm pretty sure Melbourne will be similiar and have some gluten-free options in restaurants. (Same goes for Queensland - where the Barrier Reef is - but I'm not so sure about NT/WA/SA where most of the desert is, as it's remote at times). What I try to do is email/call ahead to any restaurants I might want to visit and ask if they...

ARCHIVED Morning Sickness All My Life
tracey* replied to Jeepster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I used to be the exact same way during primary school - I was SICK in the mornings, I called it morning sickness even though I was 9 and hadn't hit puberty yet, ha. It did end up being a lactose intolerance reaction and it stopped when I stopped eating my cereal with milk. Have you considered it's not only what you're eating in the morning, but before... -

ARCHIVED How Can I Help My Husband Understand?
tracey* replied to hannahsue01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is exactly how I feel, except I'm 25 and feel like i'm 98 !! About your husband, I agree with the others in saying that if he can't support you in HEALTH issues, then something's missing in your relationship. This is your health, your LIFE - not a shopping habit or something materialistic you want to try. My husband hasn't converted over to gluten... -
ARCHIVED Do You Have Stomach Pain Because Of Gluten?
tracey* replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'd never had stomach pain until a couple of days ago (but maybe 15 years ago when I was finding out about my lactose intolerance) - I'm 5 months into a gluten free lifestyle but I think I might have been glutened that day. It was TERRIBLE, I even posted about it on the messageboard lol I'm pretty sure I know what I ate to trigger it. Mine was severe... -

ARCHIVED Can I Ask Your Opinion?
tracey* replied to tracey*'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for posting your story Adelle It's true. But at the moment, I trust the experiences here enough to know what I'm going through is a part of healing and figuring things out for myself. If I'm passing out and vomiting etc or if this lasts more than a couple of days, then that's a different story and I'd get myself to the ER somehow... -
ARCHIVED Can I Ask Your Opinion?
tracey* replied to tracey*'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just wanted to add another possible symptom that is new to me - STOMACH CRAMPS These are cramps like no other I've experienced for a while. Definately not pms-cramps, these are in the upper stomach area and have lasted about 8 hours now. I was able to take a nap and get some relief but since waking up it's getting painful again. No gas, no irregularities... -

ARCHIVED If This Doesn't Beat All . . . .
tracey* replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Aw Lynne, I just sent you a private message but I'll reply again here I think what it comes down to is - there is an obligation and contract to the professional photographer - there is no obligation and contract with the other photographer 5 weeks is not a lot of time to get professional wedding photographs done in most cases. In most cases, professional... -
ARCHIVED If This Doesn't Beat All . . . .
tracey* replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Lynne, Fair enough I would ask her to remove all photographs from the smugmug site immediately - or at least move the photos to an online album site where you CAN'T purchase photos (and therefore she can't make money on it). She might of just picked smugmug first and uploaded everything not thinking what would happen next. (She might of... -
Yeah, see in my mind it's confusing - it's either be 'rude' and decline the invitation; or be 'rude' and just sit there and not eat and be the obvious person left out. Thinking this way, the problem isn't with them or anyone else, the problem is with me and how I perceive myself to be (rude or not rude). Anyway, I went out tonight with them and it was...

ARCHIVED If This Doesn't Beat All . . . .
tracey* replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Lynne, I'm a wedding photographer myself so I know a bit how photographers might work Did she sign ANYTHING before the wedding or on the day of the wedding? What was discussed about after the wedding and what she was going to do with these photos? smugmug is commonly used to set up a preview or a portfolio of wedding photographs - and pricing is... -

Did anyone else enjoy the Gluten Free Gourmet Food Expo today out in Homebush (NSW)? -
Thanks for the replies As I said - there's no way to accommodate me - I already have called ahead and there's no guarantee of no cross contamination. I've asked about bringing my own food but they weren't very understanding unfortunately. My friends are great, but yes they don't "get it" and they've organised it themselves ahead of time, so in this...
