  1. THanks for posting this! I really needed the laughs today! It is scary how I can relate to so many of those!
  2. That's really tough. I have 2 toddlers w/ Celiac. Our whole family is gluten-free, but 4 our of 6 of us have Celiac, so that is more logical for us. Are you sure he only has a problem w/ gluten? He could be reacting to milk, soy, eggs, etc. An elimination diet may still be in order. You should just keep on you older kids to make sure they clean up...
  3. I went to a school in south tx, close to the coast, called Tidehaven. She was only there for 1 year, but she had brown hair. I think her name was Ms. Dorner or something. She was there in either 92/93 or 93/94. I am not sure which year it was. ptkds
  4. I have been suspecting an egg allergy for a while. Yesterday morning, I made scrambled eggs for myself and my toddlers. I haven't eaten plain eggs for a while. We went to the store shortly after we ate, and I couldn't make it through the trip w/out going to the bathroom. I was so embarrassed because the cleaning guy showed up just after I did, and he let...
  5. Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Yep, I hate all those commercials, plus that one for that Rx for IBS or something. They list a bunch of syptoms for Celiac, then say it is IBS and to take this pill and you will be cured! I just feel like screaming "YOU HAVE CELIAC YOU IDIOT!!!!"
  7. Little D, did we have the same female English teacher????? One of my English teachers started her career at our school. She was only there for 1 year I think, but she slept w/ half the football team and went to student parties all the time. She would even wear this white see-through skirt w/ a black G-string underneath. She never got caught, though. I live...
  8. Since you live in Austin, I would suggest you go to the HEB Central Market Store. I have never been there myself, but I have been told several times that they have a good selection. I have a PICKY dd who just turned 7. She was diagnosed last year. Every day for school, she takes a PB&J sandwich (I make my own bread), pudding cup, and a drink. Sometimes...
  9. As a mom, I am so glad the kids in your school were no longer exposed to people like that. I know that I wouldn't want my daughters to be in the same classroom as a man who is guilty of sexual assualt. I know that some ppl accused of these crimes are innocent, but not always. I don't want to offend anyone, but I am glad these teachers were taken away...
  10. I got my test results back from last weeks visit. Here are the results: RA factor normal, TSH 3.8 (borderline high), Sed rate 23 (normal is under 20). So the dr wants me to keep taking my antiinflammatory meds and call if I dont' improve. And he plans on rechecking my TSH in 3 months. So now I am worried about Hyperthyroidism along with Lupus and other...
  11. I found this because my sister was raving about the benifits of raw milk, and she told me to look up this site. I was browsing around and found this article on there. There are some other things of interest, too. But I have read about some ppl having trouble healing, and I though this may help some of you guys. Open Original Shared Link ptkds
  12. I went to my Celiac support group meeting the other night, and we had the office manager of our local congressman there. She was great. Our group director just emailed me and it had this link in there: Open Original Shared Link . On here, it has a form letter to send to state officials, addresses, etc. it is a great resource for making your voice heard...
  13. Don't I have to be bitten by a tick to get Lyme? Or is there some other way to get it. I KNOW I have NEVER had a tick on me. So I have never really considered Lyme becaus of that. Thanks!
  14. I went to see my PCP on friday cuz I have been suffering from joint achiness in the morning, severe fatigue, etc. He is testing my for Lupus, RA, and Fibro. I am really scared it is Lupus because I have lots of symptoms. Anyway, they did the bloodwork on Friday, so when will they be back? I just didn't know if they would be back pretty quick, or if I am in...
  15. It took 2 wks for mine to come in. Then they only got part of them in and told me it was all normal. So I thought I was safe, until they called a few days later and said the rest of the results were in, and I had Celiac. I was in shock. Give it about 1-2 wks and then start bugging them. You also have a right to get a copy of them, then you can put the...
  16. Pamelas Mini Chocolate Chip cookies - They taste just like chips ahoy cookies! gluten-free Pantry muffin mix
  17. 2 of my dd's are in girl scouts, and i have been chosen as the cookie coordinator in my oldest dd's troop. I figure that I won't be tempted to open them, and the have to buy them! But I am not looking forward to it, either. I LOVE the Caramel Delights. They are my favorites! But oh well, I will go and buy my Pamelas mini choc chip cookies, and enjoy those...
  18. I checked out your blog! There are lots of great meal ideas on there. I printed up the cheeseburger casserole, but how much sour cream do you use? We can't wait to try it out. Thanks!
  19. I am assuming by non-stick, you mean teflon coated, right? If there are no scratches in the teflon, then it shouldn't be a problem. If there are some scratches in the teflon, then it may be contaminated. I have a stainless steel set that I have had for a long time (before gluten-free) and we don't have a problem. But I gave away all my teflon-coated pans...
  20. I still don't have the last unread buttons, and it says the last time I visitied was the 12th. I have been here several times. It is driving me nuts!! ptkds
  21. I make my dd go to school. They let her lay her head down or whatever she needs, but she is at least there. And they are ok w/ her diarrhea if she has been glutened. I already talked to the school nurse and she is fine with it. Since diarrhea from being glutened isn't contagious, there is no problem. But if your child gets REALLY sick (like unable to function...
  22. First of all, you have come to the right place. This place has been wonderful to me and i have learned so much. My 3rd dd was also diagnosed at 16 1/2 months old! But we didn't have a family history of Celiac disease that we knew of. She was having some GI symptoms. Now my 4th dd is 18 months old. She was diagnosed around 14 months old and has been gluten...
  23. I thought of one! My grandmother used to make this wonderful banana pudding, coconut pie, and chocolate pie with the same basic recipe. A few years ago, I sat down and watched her make it and wrote down the recipe (she didn't use a set recipe). Eating these dishes was a tradition in my family, and something I will NEVER forget. There wasn't a proper family...
  24. I've had the same problem, too. I think it all depends on the batter. I used the gluten-free Pantry muffin mix, and they were perfect, but I have used a brownie mix and a cake mix, and they weren't good at all. The outside would burn, and they were too soft to flip over. I am just gonna keep playing around with it until I find the recipes that work! ptkds
  25. IMO, you should probably insist that they do the endoscopy during the colonoscopy. About 6 yrs ago, I had a colonoscopy done, and they found pre-cancerous polyps in my colon. So the colonoscopy is a good idea. They won't have to do much to just do the endosccopy done. He can also try the diet and see how he feels from that. As for the family, don...
