  9. Its not as had as it seems depending on where you visit. I live on the big island and VP of the chefs group and celiac for 7 years. On the Big Island, 12% of the visitors at the hotels require some special allergy menu now.   10. Thanks for adding your comments Thomas, There are a lot of gluten free friendly places in Tokyo now and its growing, just have to explain it to some places but they are learning. I've seen a lot of changes in 30 years working there, Maybe we should have a gluten free offline meeting in June when i get back. Ken
  11. The problem is the grass started from a seed which of course contains our problem. When they're talking about things in terms of ppm, parts per million, or gliaden or gluten protein molecules, how can you take a chance. Granted some are more sensitive than others but after y years of being celiac there is no chance I would ever try wheat or barley grass...
  12. every brand is a little different, la choy has no wheat but extremely high sodium. San-J makes wheat free tamari in a ragular and a low sodium. Braggs liquid aminos is really good and a common substitute for soy sauce in Hawaii. good luck ken

  15. they never mentioned the word partial to me-- i'll ask. the cortisone didnt help me at all but it has in the past with other problems although come to think of it I passed out after the third shot in the foot with it. i'll never try this stuff again!

  21. Although I like brown and wild rices most folks here in Hawaii who are over 50 seem to mix brown and white. Restaurants are offering it as well now. Diabetics here are told to eat brown and not white.

  24. Could be the degree of sensitivity. I thought I was going to die after having something that I was told was gluten free -- later to find out, Oh yeah there is wheat grass in it.. There is a fair amount of disagreement on it's status so if it doesnt bother you, your lucky!
