ARCHIVED Newbie
gfpaperdoll replied to toddzgrrl02's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Although you might not realize it flour poofs up in the air & gets on everything & it also gets in the AC/heating ducts... Some of us get sick just walking in a bakery... or the worst the flour aisle at the grocery after someone has just stocked the flour bags or is stocking them at that moment or horrors one has broken & there is flour everywhere -

gfpaperdoll replied to toddzgrrl02's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You might want to get her a small college room size refrigerator. With three boys in the house it is going to be hard for her to even walk in your kitchen much less touch anything in there. Also please remember that if you cook with wheat flour or wheat cake mixes in the house that she will get sick. Will her mother be able to send some money for any... -
Why are you not eating meat? I also agree with Ursa. some of us cannot even tolerate rice - especially on a regular basis. If you will stay off the dairy & cut out the grains & eat more meat - I eat pork, chicken, turkey, fish, shrimp, crab - I am allergic to beef - a couple of your other food intolerances might get better, like corn & more...

ARCHIVED Uncertainty..
gfpaperdoll replied to DLayman's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Eliana, take a clue from your little girl & do not give her milk or soy in those bottles - try some almond milk or some coconut milk or juice - & yes pedialite is good too I know it is difficult for you moms to think that your babies can live without milk or soy - but for some (most IMO) kids it is doing a lot of damage... -
ARCHIVED My Daughters Teeth
gfpaperdoll replied to Krystens mummy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
my grand-daughter who is 10 YO just gained a bunch of weight & lost ALL the enamel on ALL her teeth. She is NOT gluten-free, she has two DQ1 genes - as do most of the people in my family - including me. gluten intolerant is very serious business. Celiac will get the GI stuff first - but gluten intolerant can attack a lot of other areas before you... -

ARCHIVED Help-dh And Severe Joint Pain.........
gfpaperdoll replied to cleanchic5's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello & welcome, just some guesses here but for joint pain I would look at giving up all dairy & all soy. usually joint pain is caused from some food that you are eating... the nightshade family of potato, tomato, peppers, eggplant should be checked out.. some people have a problem with corn - IMO that is the worst, I went years & could... -
ARCHIVED Maybe Not Just Gluten Causing Problems?
gfpaperdoll replied to Jujbe's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My guess is that you need to be dairy free at the least for awhile. next what kind of gluten-free flour was in the muffins? Did the muffins also contain milk or other dairy? You could also be reacting to one of the gluten-free flours. I have been gluten-free 4 years & hardly ever eat any of the gluten-free flour... Some people handle it with no... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Almost 2 Days Now
gfpaperdoll replied to Aleshia's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You might try keeping a food journal - it could be from another food you are eating - or drinking - also have you checked your personal care products? I would insist on at least a bone scan & a brain scan - does not hurt to check out the brain with a situation like that - just to check. I also agree with Ursa - check your vitamin & mineral levels... -
ARCHIVED Controlling Cc In My Kitchen
gfpaperdoll replied to dbmamaz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You might want to experiment with the cornbread - you can make it a lot of ways & you can even make little fried skillet bread - is what my grandmother used to call them. You do not have to use any other flours in cornbread - just corn meal. i use cornmeal & coconut milk in place of milk & I do put in an extra egg - but you could just use your... -

ARCHIVED Blood Vs Stool Antibody Test?
gfpaperdoll replied to hill5384's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have used enterolab.com & highly recommend them - especially if you get a negative blood test. A lot of us do not have a positive blood test. Although some people on this forum do not like Enterolab because he "is not published" in fact, some medical doctors do use Dr Fine's lab. Some doctors that are just trying to help their patients and are... -
ARCHIVED Can't See Doctor For 3 Months!
gfpaperdoll replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You could ask the doctor that cannot see you for three months to refer you to someone that can see you right away, if that does not work, then ask to talk to the physician's assistant - sometimes they will get you in when the scheduling person will not. I would not accept the three month wait period - keep looking... -
ARCHIVED In Search Of Food Ideas
gfpaperdoll replied to Chiron's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I second the recommendation for no nightshade veggies. I can eat tomatoes but absolutely cannot eat white potatoes or black pepper or chili powder or eggplant & I have mostly given up bell peppers. I also am allergic to beef - even the organic stuff. I also have some other allergies... I am mostly grain free - except for the occasional weekend... -

ARCHIVED Searching In Desperation?
gfpaperdoll replied to momto2monkeys's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Minnie82 & welcome - you HAVE a diagnosis it came from the truest test of them all - dietary response. If you go back to eating gluten I will tell you that some people get very ill & cannot do it - & you face the possibility of picking up another auto immune illness at that time. Since you have figured out your problem why go back to the... -
ARCHIVED What's Up With My Kid.?
gfpaperdoll replied to missy'smom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It sound like your son could be gluten intolerant, those genes come with a lot of other food allergies and neurological issues. Usually when you go gluten-free/DF your other food allergies get better & you are able to eat some of those foods again. Of course if you have an anaphylactic reaction to a food you probably will never be able to eat that food... -

gfpaperdoll replied to Missouri Farmer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Missouri Farmer, I do not know about any energy elixirs but you might try taking some B12, gluten free of course. also you might look at your diet & make sure that you are getting plenty of protein. gfpaperdoll replied to Mushy1127's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Since I cannot say anything nice about "Toddler Diarrhea" or "IBS" I will just say - yes to what Ursa said. my usual saying is that there is also no such disease called vomiting. I will say welcome & good for you for checking out the gluten intolerance/celiac problem that obviously your husband & son have. & I hope that you get both of... -

oh have a good time & do not be nervous! & yes take the chance to say that you are shy or not sure what to do - if someone chats with you, tell them thank you & that you are a little on the shy side & trying not to be too nervous. ARCHIVED Changes In Behavior
gfpaperdoll replied to chasing4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I second the opinon re feeling better - that was probably the first time that she had ever felt like being at recess - instead of sitting at her desk!!!! You might talk to her about how she is feeling, she might not be aware of it on a conscious level. You might also need to explain that she should feel happy & bubbly & have lots of energy all... -

gfpaperdoll replied to AMQmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just do not know, but I do know that some inks are soy based. If you would google some of the name brand ink pad companies, you could find out. Some of the brands I use are dee Gruenig, Stampin Up, Color Box, Versa Color... but I do not know if any of them contain wheat or gluten.
