  1. Carriefaith, I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a diificult time - I can definitely relate! Glad to know that you are feeling somewhat better now, and hope that you will soon get all of the answers that you need! I'm glad that at least Benadryl helps you when you react like that; I can't take it, it affects me too strongly... This...
  2. I don't know how much / if this will help you, but it may someone else... I too am the only gluten-free person in my household, but I don't live with (my) family, and the only control I have is over my own stuff, unfortunately! I have my own wooden spoons, frying pan, separate sponge, and handwash most of the dishes & utensils that I use. Everyone...
  3. I have a question... what books or other resources would you recommend for more information? There's so much out there but I know that someone here should be able to help point me towards the real gems... Thank you...
  4. Slackermommy, I am glad that you found your answer, and definitely understand your mourning; so many of us can relate! Wecome to the forum... you'll find it a great source of support and information. We are here for you! Wecome to Klavirista as well!
  5. I've been so busy the past few days that this is my first chance to read or post... Fiddle-Faddle, thank you for all that you said; this will be the second thing that I've diagnosed on my own! I am making an effort to learn more about it, but I'd also like to talk to other people who have it as well, or at least have an understanding about it...Yes...
  6. 2kids4me, Thanks for the movie info... I'll defintely be looking into watching it. It may help me understand a few things about myself better, and may help me with my therapist; I suspect I may actually have Aspergers, but she won't rule it in or out as yet (why do people have such a hard time with diagnosing adults??? It's so frustrating!!). Thanks...
  7. Thank you for posting this article; this is along the lines of what my best friend and I have been saying for years! And most people wonder why they feel so "wonderful"...
  8. I've been wondering how your brother was doing; I am so sorry to hear of the news. My heart goes out to you and your family; you are in my thoghts and prayers.
  9. Welcome to the forum! You don't have to guess , you will find a lot of support and frindly advice here. We've all felt overwhelmed in the beginning as it feels like severe information overload, but it will get easier as you get the hang of things. Feel free to pore through all the old posts and ask any questions that you may have; there's always someone...
  10. Have a wonderful birthday!!!
  11. Congratulations, AutumnE (and everyone else)! I myself haven't lost as much weight as you have, but I am petite and 10 extra pounds looks like 20! I've lost 20lbs so far, and I am almost completely off of all processed foods. I am allergic to sugar, and the surprising thing that I found was that when I stopped eating sugar and began cutting out processed...
  12. She did a pretty decent job in the, like, three minutes that she had! It would've been great to have had a broader overview but it's a great start and I'm sure it will get a lot of people thinking...
  13. That may be your answer... you may have to reduce the amount of processed foods that you eat for now until your system can better handle it, and/or rotate when you eat your peanut butter sandwich (e.g. every 3-4 days). Hope this helps!

    ARCHIVED Losing My Doctor

So sorry to hear that...I wonder why he didn't say that he was leaving? I hope you find an understanding doctor soon!
  15. That sucks! Ihope that you get some answers soon...please keep us updated!
  16. Glad that you decided to join us! This is a wonderful place to be...I have found that there are great, supportive people here!
  17. Welcome! Change is never easy and having to adapt to something new can be overwhelming, especially when it ties into something as intrinsic to our way of life as food. It helps to, one, give yourself permission to grieve a bit, and , two, always focus on the fact that this is your way of managing your health and avoiding some other nasty health issues down...
  18. Thank you very much...will do! The scary thing is that I've become increasingly sensitive over the last couple of years... and I definitely find myself explaining things to people much more often. Things I've been able to (still) use are now starting to bother me, and I want to pull my hair out!!! Nope, can't do that either, I don't have any! * Beautifully...
  19. Great to hear...yippee!!! I just e-mailed Elizabeth myself. Can you imagine the exposure that this segment will bring to this issue? Huge!!! I can't wait!!!
  20. I completely understand where you are coming from! My hands are disgusting-looking and dry because I wash my hands so much! I'm the only gluten-free one at home, and there're always crumbs everywhere, even here now on the keyboard *shudder*. I am so sensitive to so many darned things that I've basically given myself running permission to be paranoid!!...
  21. Carriefaith, Bless you! That article was absolutely perfect, and will serve as a good base for me to do some furthur investigating, especially as this might very well explain some of my issues like sleep disorders/difficulties - I haven't slept normally for more than 5 years now; most nights I may get at most 2 hrs sleep, many nights I don't sleep at...
  22. I am going to have to get a new Medical Alert bracelet to include a few new things. Here's my dilemma, however... I am very sensitive to things like perfumes/colognes, most cleaning solutions, paint, anything with a strong, sweet smell...even something as benign as hand lotion can set me off into a severe reaction! Can I get away with just having 'Chemical...
  23. LJannise, I'm like you on both counts! Since becoming gluten-free, I've lost @30 lbs! With some cravings, it has been said that sometimes we crave the things that we are in fact most allergic to... I agree with the other posters who said that they have separated socialization from food; you have to for your own sanity. Even so, eating something...
  24. Great to hear that your celebration went well and that "your" food was a hit! Have a fantastic day!
  25. Thank you, but I don't really think of it as disciplined! I used to have a raging sweet tooth as well as being the biggest chocoholic out there , but things aren't that hard to give up when you listen to your body and realise just how darned much you suffer for eating them! And after a brief time off of sugar etc - and getting your nutrition more into...
