  1. He is delicious!
  2. Amen! Yes, JerryK, it is that simple! How did I find out about neurological symptoms of Celiac/Gluten Sensitivity? From this board and putting 2+2 together when I began to feel so amazingly better after going gluten-free! I'd been clinically depressed most of my life; I'd also have the most horrendous panic attacks (I would sometimes 'whiteout' and...
  3. I drink lots of water; the only other things I drink are ginger-root and herb teas, lemonade with just lemon, no sweeteners(!) and occasionally 100% real friut juice...no high-fructose this or dye # that!!! Also whole fruit or vegetable juices thanks to my Vitamix! I use a minimal amount of processed foods; some weeks I have none at all. My diet consists...
  4. Just stopping by to say hello, and welcome!
  5. Hello and welcome! I lurked around here for about eight months or so myself before I joined, so it's great to have you here. I'm glad that you've finally introduced yourself - nothing too late about it - hope you feel at home!
  6. You guys are too much!!! This is my second read-through of this thread - during the first one I was laughing so hard that I was glad no-one else was home - and am still crying! Thank you, Karen...that perked up my day tremendously. I was feeling rather down and frustrated; laughter really is the best medecine! Rusla: You are a scream...
  7. I second that!!!
  8. I'm glad you're feeling better; its good to know that you are successfully navigating this sometimes confusing area and are figuring out what your body needs (or doesn't need right now)! I think most of us here have been / are in the same boat as you are, and we "overstand"!!! I've had to shed - in addition to dairy/casein which I've always been allergic...
  9. Have a wonderful birthday! I just love reading your posts and the board wouldn't be the same without you. Enjoy your day!
  10. If it helps any...I was vegetarian for many years before going gluten-free, and for a couple of years had to do battle with a hypoactive thyroid. I got it under control before going on this diet, and have been fine ever since. I also agree with Ursa Major...
  11. Lynne, Great to see you back! Glad you're feeling better!
  12. You are NOT a horrible Mommy, and you definitely haven't failed her...don't ever think that! **Lots of Hugs!!!**
  13. Hi, Liz! Okay..I'm going to take a stab at this...I'm sure there'll be others who'll pitch in and correct me if I'm wrong, but... Many who have Celiac also have malabsorption issues (especially when first diagnosed, which have to be addressed in order for the body to begin to truly heal) which is why your Doctor started you on the vitamin regimen...
  14. Diagnosed by Doctor as Celiac via very positive dietary results. He told me I didn't have to /shouldn't bother with all the other stuff, as many results can be inconclusive/false negative...
  15. I'm with CarlaB...it's best not to expect anything from other people; that way when they are understanding, its a blessing, but when they don't, we won't be all crushed. Also, rememeber how hard it is for us to navigate this way of life sometimes, especially in the beginning; it takes a real commitment on the part of others (and compassion & empathy...
  16. CONGRATULATIONS!
  17. Congratulations, Angie! Rusla, I'll be home with four dogs and a cat for company, so I'll be toasting with you!
  18. I'm definitely hooked on Avatar ; I also like Naruto, Zatch Bell, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (halarious!), Get Ed, Iyunasha(when I'm up that late!) and Teen Titans...those are the main ones...
  19. Viola, How sweet of you to ask! I forgot to mention that the gifts were from them as well! At first I wasn't going to go to dinner with them as I'd been running to the bathroom for the entire day(!!!) and was petrified since I haven't been to anywhere that did not have gluten-free options/menus since being dx'd. But then I reconsidered...I...
  20. Three books on Tattoos (one of them being on the cultural anthropology of tattoos), one huge one on World Mythology and one of those new Ipod Shuffles. AND my employers insisted that I join them for a huge Chinese dinner on Christmas night so that I wouldn't be alone
  21. I'm 34yrs and was self-diagnosed / went Gluten-Free October 2005. Diagnosed by my doctor July 2006 (when I finally could partially afford to see him ) who accepted my dietary results and horrible reactions to an abbreviated gluten challenge - self-inflicted -which he promptly told me to stop!
  22. This is interesting...on this past Wednesday I was looking at his "Predictions for 2007" show. I don't usually watch during the times when he has Sylvia Brown on, but I was flipping through T.V. shows looking for something to watch when I heard her mention that next year it will be proven that food (allergies/intolerances) is a/the major cause of depression...
  23. Good for you! As you said, it can't hurt to give it a try; hope you get the answers you need!
  24. Just be mindful that some people find Psyllium to be a little harsh on the system! If you do try it, start with slowly increasing amounts. Another alternative is flaxseed; I use ground flaxseed in my gluten-free granola or fruit smoothies in the morning. I've also included it in pancake batter, and even in soup! Fruits and veggies are great; I also...
  25. I second that; congratulations! We alll understand what a major deal this is - I've just passed my first year as well. You beat me to the punch by starting this thread...I was thinking of it but wasn't sure what to say! We do learn from each other, and I am so grateful for you all and for this site. Practically everything I know about this...
