    ARCHIVED Food

There was a thread on here a little while ago about make up and someone suggusted Everyday Minerals. It is like the Bare Essencuals line but less expensive. The only product that can't be used it the mineral veil type product (I'm sorry I can't remember the actual name of it). If you go to their website you can even get a sample kit for free. I tried...
  2. That last line made me laugh! I know how hard it is and how frustrated you get by accidental glutenings. I can't even beging to tell you how many times I've picked up something, and even though it looks safe I'm not sure so I just won't even try it. Or my personal favorite...finding a gluten-free product that you want to try...spend a ton of money on it...
  3. I recall reading an article a while back about nicotine actually helping the lungs oxygenate and a trial run with people with breathing difficulties receiving some type of nicotine as a treatment (although I highly doubt it was in the form of something you smoked!). It seems that it is the tar and all of the other cocktail of chemicals that really throws...
  4. I have been dying for hushpuppies I can't wait to try these! Thanks so much for not only finding the recipe but trying it out first! Edit: I made these over the weekend and they were a huge hit!
  5. Vent away, it does help and so does this board. I can totally sympathize with both of your frustrations. I remember right after diagnosis wanting to throw a tantrum every time I walked into a grocery store. Altough it doesn't make it better now, please know that IT WILL GET BETTER. You will feel better and it becomes much easier to cook and shop with...
  6. Yep, in our house all lip kissing is reserved for after my dd has bathed and brushed her teeth for the night. All other times its on my cheek, even for dh. The boys are too old to be kissing me on the lips so we are safe there. However, I have had to do major work with kids not picking up my drink and taking a swig. It took me forever to figure out that...
  7. I love the featherlight mix and I found a store her locally that sells the premade Authentic foods kind. Featherlight works amazingly well for frying chicken and it actually stays much crispier than reagular flour when cooked in a little olive oil. And for all of you who posted these wonderful ideas.. my DH is sitting her drooling over the ideas. He...
  8. Zachsmom...Funyons are a chip type thing. They are round like onion rings and make your breath smell horrible but taste oh so good.
  9. Don't worry Lister...I was afraid to eat anything wheat containing when I did my challenge too. But have no fear, the desire came back in no time for me. I think all it took was a BLT on fresh white bread...ooohhh I miss those. I hope you get some answers soon so you can finally feel better. And please, even if its not a gluten filled food add a few more...
  10. I am thankful for everyone of you who have taken the time to read a vent or answer a question I have had. For every post that has made me laugh so hard the whole family has come down to the office to see what is going on, and especially for the caring attitudes I've seen displayed so many times when someone is really in a bad place. You are all the best...
  11. My dd who is 9 caught it and was so excited to tell me all about it when I got home from work this afternoon. She said it was great and she hoped it would help people understand more about it.
  12. As far as the school thing goes, I find honesty is the best policy. I have always been very upfront with my professors about absences for any reason. If I feel like I'm struggling with celiac I make it a point to go to them before there is a huge problem and let them know. Now...I am not sure if the understanding response is because I'm in nursing school...
  13. Thanks all for the great ideas....I'm hungry just thinking of them!
  14. Marco, I don't have a lot to add here but I just wanted to let you know I hope you are feeling well soon. When I eat signifigant qualities of gluten my brain just locks up and I really have a hard time functioning. I go from a person with a huge vocabulary to a bumbling fool. There have been a few times I was actually concerned I was going to get lost...
  15. Do you have a recipe for it? That does sound quite yummy!
  16. I'm so sorry for those of you who can't get your DH to clear, I just can't imagine it. I almost feel bad because mine does go away. Wish I could do something to help
  17. Well the only thing I can say to any of you sweet people who have such nasty family members is GRRRR. I chose that word because any other words that come to mind would probably get me kicked off the board for life! I just don't get being nasty peroid but ESPECIALLY when a child is involved. You can all come and hang out with my family!!! I am proud...
  18. I will check out the Health Valley if all else fails and in the meantime I will look around at the different Krogers since there seems to be one on every block here! Thanks for the ideas, I had given up on the idea of green bean casserole this year!
  19. I am already making a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving but I'm looking for an idea for another dessert that doesn't contain pumpkin or cream cheese. We have more than one family function to attend on Thursday and lets face it the cheesecake won't last and even if it does there is only so much cheesecake one can eat in a day. I would prefer something...
  20. WHAT WE CAN EAT FUNYONS???!!! I know this is of NO help making the casserole but I may try out this recipe! Does anyone have a suggustion on where to get the Progresso cream of mushroom soup? I have looked everywhere and can't find it.
  21. You can add me to the mono list. I've had it not once but a fun filled 2 times!! Once at 9 (I was so sick my mom thought I was gonna die) and once at 19 in combo with strep. I don't think those were the triggers though. My mom said I threw up a lot as an infant but that all seemed to go away and never had any problems and was really a very healthy kid...

    ARCHIVED House

Hi all, not sure if any of you are house fans or not but I do believe the episode featuring celiac is on tonight. I do love the show and I love how it isn't a typical presentation of the disease. Regardless, its getting the word itself out there!!! Have a great night all!
  24. Turtle, I"m SO happy for you! There is nothing more special than getting to have your loved one at home for at least one of the holidays....isn't it funny how so many people take that for granted! My sweetie has been home from a year long remote in Korea for almost a year now...I have a feeling the other shoe is getting ready to drop. Oh well, thats how...
  25. Mamaw, thank you for the wonderful post. I have printed it out and hung it on the fridge for the kids to read. I think I may also read it at our big Thanksgiving dinner table before the prayer. It is so clear to me that so many people have lost sight of what Thanksgiving is about and there is just simply too much of a mean, selfish mentality in this world...
