ARCHIVED Gluten Free Candy Egg Hunt
HawkFire replied to sillyactsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What about the kids who can't have peanuts? I'm not agreeing with you that this is a good idea. The state, the country, local governments... schools, etc... cannot acommodate all the different dietary issues. Should they have eggs filled with treats for diabetics? Participation doesn't require that the child eat the gluten filled candy. Participate... -
ARCHIVED Help! Hospital Food
HawkFire replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When my child was in the hospital, they did not know about a gluten free menu. It was pathetic. I had the kitchen staff prepare hard boiled eggs, orange sections, apple sauce (that I confirmed) and other fruits and juice and water. I then brought in toasted bread with jam, baggies of cereal, and other food items in a small cooler. My child had more than... -
Avoid Dairy... GREAT IDEA! Notmilk.com has good info. I hope the anti dairy movement picks up speed and catches on sooner rather than later.

ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
HawkFire replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is not true. Furthermore, a biopsy can miss damage. The "gold standard" of a biopsy is no longer a gold standard. It's archaic to keep hanging on to this outdated idea. It shows a doctor who is not up to speed. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old

Oh, I do not like your doctor one bit. He is making excuses. I would run from him. I tell you this as a mother of three. I am only looking out for your child's best interest, just as you are. -
ARCHIVED Newbie May Have Ciliac Disease
HawkFire replied to CaveBear's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Watch for gluten in your shampoo, conditioner, chapstick, and other personal care products. Watch for gluten in things such as your BBQ briquettes! Yes! They typically contain wheat. Can you believe it? Watch for the one brand (I forget) of Hotdogs that contain wheat. Watch for torn or fragmented teflon pans- the gluten can remain within the tears.... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
HawkFire replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I see no need for the endoscopy as far as the child is concerned. Perhaps the doctor is benefiting, but the child is not. That is my opinion. I am against unnecessary endoscopy. Your doctor is simply "playing" in my opinion. Your child will remember this procedure because he is old enough to. No, no, no. I would not do it. -
ARCHIVED Soy And Milk Allergy?
HawkFire replied to dally099's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There are so many oils out there. Soy is very cheap. Why not experiment with different oils and make your own dressing? There are grape seed oils, walnut oils, avocado oils, peanut oils, oils, oils, oils... I have made my dressings with apple cider vinegar, or lime juice, or squeezed lemon, or orange juice and more. If you allow it to marinate with a... -

We are entirely dairy free as dairy is not good for you or anybody who is a human being. It is only good for cows, though, I wouldn't feed the hormone laced, antibiotic enriched slop they call milk to even a cow. We use rice milk. I don't care what kind we use, but my oldest son prefers the brand at Wholefoods, made by WholeFoods. My daughter...

ARCHIVED Need Your Help!
HawkFire replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Lentils are great. There are black ones as well as the pale green ones. My kids like both. As a matter of fact, we had them in a homemade vegetable soup last night. Now, I've never seen anything questionable in my lentil. Could yours simply be dirty? Just rinse them off. I don't soak my lentils, either. They don't require that as do some of the other... -
ARCHIVED Zelnorm Withdrawn
HawkFire replied to jerseyangel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just one of hundreds of mass chemical experiments going on with the fda today. I'm sad for all the people taking this poison. When will Americans understand how corrupt the fda is? -
I avoid it completely. I used to use a bit in a cup of coffee, but I have given that up as well. I purchase no processed foods, use coconut oil for "butter", use rice milk or water for "milk", no cheese, no yogurt, no ice cream. I make rice tapioca pudding with rice milk sometimes as a dessert. The only thing you cannot truly replace seems to be cheese...

ARCHIVED Food For Thought
HawkFire replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Mango, I did a lot of research into dairy. I found the most compelling scientific arguement against dairy... I didn' tsave it to my favorites!! I will try to find it again. It may take awhile. I would tell you (with no proof right now) that no "milk" pulled from the mammary glands of another species should be given to a human being. Raw or homogenized... -
ARCHIVED Newbie-43 With Osteoporosis
HawkFire replied to Suzysliw's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No one worry about me. I am preaching an entirely new gospel, as it were... I expect skepticism. I know I sound crazy. We are programmed to view those who disagree with the health mandates of the fda as enemies of common sense. Larry, your mother's breast milk was the best food for you as a baby. Unfortunately, so many mothers have been convinced... -

You should do what I do. I order my bread products from Kinnikinnick.com I used to do this all the time, but have found may gluten free products are arriving in my town. I relied on Kinnkinnick for several years. They are the best. I recommned all of their products. You will not be disappointed. The pancake mix is great, the chicken crispy coating... -
ARCHIVED Is Sorbitol Bad?
HawkFire replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Open Original Shared Link Because food - just like chemicals created in labs- has an effect, good or bad, on the body. Cold medicines are a scam. Warm steam from a shower, a massage, sleep, and real food will help a person more than the Robetussin for the common, everyday cold. Now, if your sickness gets exotic (perhaps due to a poor immune system)... -

Open Original Shared Link The fat in coconut oil is not the same as the long chain fatty acids. It is a MEDIUM chain fatty acid. There are pages and pages and pages out there of studies proving coconut oil is far better for you than the seed oils we're used to using. WHY do we use them? Because it is a profitable agricultural crop in the U.S. and... -
ARCHIVED Coconut Oil And Massage
HawkFire replied to Jestgar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Do be careful with all natural oils as well. The lavendar, tea tree oils and some others cause breast tissue to develop in males and to initiate pernicious puberty. Simply showering with lavendar or using dryer sheets with lavendar can cause males of any age to develope fatty breast tissue... it goes away when the exposure ends, but is quite unnerving. -

Please give up dairy asap. This runs counter to what the FDA and American medicine tells us. Do you own research on line. I will not bother to tell you here. Look into the myths of dairy, the truth of calcium absorption being blocked by too much protein. Consider the strong bones of animals who do not consume dairy. The green leafy vegetables are where... -
ARCHIVED Coconut Oil And Massage
HawkFire replied to Jestgar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow, Jestgar, this is so amazing that they are looking into skin absorption. A long time ago, I gave up all chemical creams, shampoos, deodorants, toothpastes, cleaners... I had to come to terms with my sweat marks under my shirts, but I reminded myself daily that nearly every breast tumor contains significiant amounts of the chemicals that block sweat... -

ARCHIVED Food For Thought
HawkFire replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I do not mind discussing dairy. The stuff that comes out of the cow, as you say, is no better for you than the homogenized, pasturized, fat free stuff. There is a growing segment of the population that is becoming aware of the dairy propaganda we're force fed from birth. The fact is, your bones will be weaker if you rely on dairy for calcium. Why are... -
