  1. U Burger is in Kenmore Square. Per the owner, they only fry fries in the fryolater, and you can get burgers wrapped in lettuce, rather than rolls.
  2. Hi -- we're going to Martha's Vineyard in a week, and are trying to find out if there are any celiac friendly restaurant options. We will be staying in a house and plan to do most of our own cooking, but an occasional meal out would be nice. We have two teens with us (one teen has celiac) so the restaurants need to be teen friendly as well. I've done...

    ARCHIVED Dining In Nh

Rafferty's in North Conway is near Storyland -- I would definitely try there. Also, fyi, Storyland has a lot of allergy info right on their website about what is in their foods.
  5. Where did you get that information about cornstarch? If a box of cornstarch simply said "cornstarch" as the ingredient, where would the gluten from wrbo be?
  6. I used a Chebe bread mix (I forget which one) to make pig in the blankets, and they came out really well. I cut the hot dogs into small pieces, like the appetizer size -- if you left it whole, you could probably turn it into a "bagel dog".
  7. Check out this website -- it mentions a place in West Ossipee, which I think is in the Lakes area. Open Original Shared Link Also, you might try searching/ posting at this NH Celiac support site -- Open Original Shared Link Good luck -- let us know if you find anything!
  8. Was the tub of margarine that you used only used for gluten free food? Otherwise, maybe it was cross contamination with the tub of margarine itself -- if the tub of margarine is used to spread margarine on regular bread, then it is likely that small crumbs would end up in the tub.
  9. We took a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon in April, and I posted about what we brought to eat on our blog, www.glutenfreediscoveries.blogspot.com. Rochelle
  10. Note that Neutrogena's so called "gluten free list" is ONLY a wheat free list -- they haven't checked for the presence of barley, rye and oats. I find it astonishing that a company could be so misleading in their allergen list labeling -- if they don't want to disclose all gluten, that is their choice, but it is misleading to title their list "gluten free...
  11. This is a reply I received from the company earlier this year: "Our ice cream does not contain gluten, although it may be present in certain add-ins. For that reason, Cookies 'n Cream, Candy Bar Crunch and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough all contain gluten because of the cookie and candy bar inclusions. We use flavorings provided to us by other companies which...
  12. I called them in January -- this is what the customer rep told me: Spoonable topping-- Milky Way has barley; all others are gluten-free. Magic Shell -- Twix has wheat; all others are gluten-free. Microwave toppings (in plastic bottle) -- gluten-free Sundae Syrups -- 3 Muskateers has barley; all others (Butterscotch, Caramel, Chocolate and...
  13. It's great to have this list -- although not everything on it is gluten free, just the items with a "Y" after it. For some reason, the Southwestern Ranch dip is NOT gluten free, although the regular ranch seems to be. I'm just noting this because the first time I read through it, I didn't realize the significance of the Y and N. Still, it is a nice long...
  14. Hi Alison -- did you end up trying the restaurant? If so, how was it? Did they have any gluten-free noodles? Rochelle, Boston
  15. Abrusci's in Denver is an Italian restaurant with an extensive gluten free menu -- they even serve gluten free bread with the meal. I think that there are quite a few options in Denver and Boulder -- check the website of the Colorado celiac support group. In and Out Burger is a "healthier" fast food chain -- I know they are in Arizona, California and Nevada...
  16. I recently called Zone, and they do say that a number of their bars do not contain ingredients containing gluten, including the new forumalation of the caramel crunch and the fudge graham. You can call them for a list. They also said that they did not hide gluten in ingredients such as "natural flavors." They are made in a facility which also processes...
  17. We're going to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon in a few weeks with our two teenagers. I know that there are lots of options in Vegas. We are camping in the GC, so some meals are covered. However, we will need some additional restuarnat options near the South Rim entrance and in Williams AZ -- any suggestions? Thanks so much.
  18. A number of Paul Newman dressings are gluten free, including Caesar -- they are listed on their web site. Also, a number of Ken's Salad dressings are gluten-free. Again, check their website. www.kensfoods.com for their gluten free list. A lot of restaurants use Kens.
  19. I like Wallaby -- Whole Foods carries this brand in Massachusetts -- I don't know about your area.
  20. Be careful about Hersheys -- although they say they give an accurate list of their ingredients on the product label, they no longer hold themselves out as disclosing all gluten on the label -- only wheat. To them, stating "natural flavors" on the label is the "accurate" statement of the ingredient. But they say that they do not know what is in the natural...
  21. Children's Hospital in Boston runs a support group. They seem to hold a number of their events in the western suburbs. For example, there was a holiday party at Brandeis in Waltham, and I think that their next meeting (on April 1) is going to be in Waltham as well. 617-355-2127 or email: Celiacsupportgroup@childrens.harvard.edu Also, there is a great...
  22. I haven't been there yet, but there is a restuarant called "UBurger" in Kenmore Square that might be promising. They serve "healthy" fast food (burgers, chicken, fries) -- a bit like IN and Out. I spoke to one of the owners and it seemed as if a number of the items would work, including the fries -- apparently, the fryolater there is only for the fries...
  23. Have you communicated with the tour company about food restrictions yet? Since your group is small, they might be able to make a lot of accomodations if there is sufficient warning. For example, maybe they can bring some extra pots/ pans that can be used just for your husband's meals, or can plan to have some gluten free options at different meals. Also...
  24. Which setting do you use to make Pamela's mix in the Zo? I'm about to purchase some of these mixes from Amazon (a great price -- 6 for about $20)? I've used the quick wheat setting in the Zo for other mixes -- have you ever used this setting (about 2 hours plus) for the Pamela's mix? Thanks.

    ARCHIVED Cruise

Lots of times the fruity drinks are made with standard mixes. Can you e-mail the company to ask what brands they use? Or maybe check the common brands beforehand (e.g. Cuervo, Mr and Mrs. T, Master of Mixes) so you have a list of what mixers will be safe.
